I don't think this is an at large caliber NCAA team, but I'm excited about its play and depth and think it could win a lot of games. We've definitely turned the program around. I'm very bullish on the next couple years. The one glass ceiling B need's to break is winning a conference tournament. As far as our CAA schedule I think at this point we can be as good as anyone in the CAA.

I agree, Byington’s track record shows he can win the SBC with Southern (lucky for us) but just like Sean, both need to win the tourney. I’m excited that we’ll have a lot of the men’s team returning next year (pre-transfers) because these guys are starting to play with a fun cohesion and energy.

EKU takes about 35 3's a game so far this year and is shooting at a 39% clip so closing out on shooters will be very important. Pretty even teams I think and that shows in spread.
JMU is going to be a very good defensive team this year and this will allow us to win any game, but when we shoot well there is a good chance we blow people out.

JMU is 43-23 ATS (+17.7 Units) in road games versus good 3 point shooting teams - making >=37% of their attempts, since 1997.

I think this will be a good challenge for us. We should be able to defend this team. I love playing similar caliber teams - it's easier to evaluate how we're going. I can already see the rolls beginning to develop for this team. Even with all the changes they seem to be "overall" playing well together.
ODU/EKU/JMU are all very similar quality at this point. Getting a win there would be huge.
ODU plays a decent Manhattan tonight. Will be interesting to see how they fair. Hopefully they win big.

Hahaha. This is hilarious. Only a degenerate could dig information from that deep.
After all, Mate Milisa’s performance for the Dukes in ‘97 has a HUGE impact on tomorrow’s game. If those are legit stats, that is a very impressive pull. If they are phony, then it is still funny. It’s just something in the program’s DNA and beyond human comprehension.
Time to lay your bank account on the Dukes +3 points. It is a stone cold lead pipe lock.

RE: JMU @ E. Kentucky hoops
And a quick check on the Colonels shows 5 D-1 transfers on the roster.
NC State, Charlotte, Wichita State, and 2 from Marshall including the Big’un.
All but one started at their former school.
This roster doesn’t lack for talent and it could be a great time to play them before they gel. Same could be said for JMU with 4 D-1 transfers who started although at a little bit lower level programs overall.
Does EKU really want to run with JMU? They say they do, but I don’t think they really want to. If JMU has anything, they have 1000 guards full of speed and quickness.
Even without the Big’un, EKU still has the 6’9” 30th ranked shot blocker in the nation last year and another 6’10” guy who already has 10 blocks in 3 games.

Manhattan is my alma mater. When I went there (85-89), the basketball team was real bad, even ranked dead last once by USA Today. I played club hockey and even we would outdraw them, but we were also league champs and students could and did drink openly and heavily since the rink was a short walk off campus that had nothing but bars along the way.

Well, I wouldn't lay my bank account over 1 of hundreds of betting angles, but I'm taking the +3.5 for my normal amount. Byington has been money for JMU:
Byington is 13-5 ATS (+7.5 Units) as the coach of JMU. I like a coach who wins...and covers.

That is the sign of a coach that exceeds expectations in an improving program.

We do. We don't play any other way. I believe we've been top 3 in the nation in TOs forced each of the three years of the AW Hamilton era. We didn't have the depth of this team any of those first three years either.
But for what it's worth, Iran Bennett will not play. They're not expecting the big man until second semester. Wichita State transfer Trevin Wade also hasn't played yet due to a concussion. His return is probably not too far down the road, but I don't know if he'll play Tuesday or not.
Jomaru Brown, our leading scorer from 2019-2020 miss all but four games last year and then was suspended to start this season. He's back, but his minutes have been limited as he works his way back into the rotation.
Looking forward to a great ball game, guys!

Recall attending a football playoff game with you guys many years ago. I think it was right before we lost to NDSU to start their run, although I might be wrong.

As I recall, I think we led basically that entire game until the final play when JMU kicked a game-winning field goal. I live in Louisville, and I don't think I was able to make the 90-minute trip to Richmond for that one. I think I watched it on ESPNU.

You're lucky you are not playing us in Harrisonburg. You'd have to use the best source for college sports - aka FLOsports.com

Yep, squeaked by EKU and lost a competitive game with NDSU. This is the year that people absolutely freaked that the administration got outbid for a first round game by EKU.

i think their concessions consisted of a dude under the goal post cooking hot dogs on a weber grill. I think our winning field goal almost knocked over his whole operation.

We've never had anyone grilling behind a goalpost. They usually have a grill tent set up as you come up the ramp to the main concourse, and there are more traditional concessions windows inside.
The entire visitors side of the stadium has been knocked down and rebuilt since that game so things look a bit different now.
