RE: Week 2 - Maine @ JMU
First time at JMU that I've really appreciated the benefit of a real tall QB w/ a live arm and solid grasp of the game. It was like CJ was seeing everything from above. Really odd offensive game from a JMU perspective. Didn't run much (even though our limited runs were good). And we threw and connected for a ton of lengthy passes. Kinda a nice change of pace.

Maine was stacking the box to stop the run and played man on our WRs, challenging JMU to throw the ball. After CJ and Wells destroyed Maine over the top I’m not sure future opponents will try that strategy.

I’m enjoying Shanahan’s play calling, and the new QB coach has helped CJ continue to develop. Despite the youth on the reshuffled OL the pass protection and running attack are excellent.

McCormick was injured again but CC did not think it was too serious but he said they would know better on Monday. Hope it is not a serious injury. I would assume that both Greene and percy will play this Saturday, think they were held out as a precaution vs Maine. Probably a tougher game next week against Weber State so hopefully they will be ready to play.

Did he say anything about Hampton?

Glad we didnt waste a half trying to force something that wasnt there. Seems like the playbook may be adjusted week to week which is nice. Also teams are going to have to stop stacking the box after the last two weeks which is really going to get the run game going. This years offensive is one of the more balanced teams ive seen

Cole to the Giants might be a possibility. Cole seems to want to get into the financial world after his playing days are done, and NY is the financial capital of the world. And from a football perspective, Daniel Jones is garbage.

At the fan and press conference last week he was asked about MJ Hampton and he seemed to indicate he had a foot injury and it might be a couple weeks or so.

Some of those PI calls were complete nonsense. Thank goodness they picked up the flag on the last call. The ref that threw it needs his eyes examined. He seemed to be flag happy.

However, I think the DBs need to know that pretty much ever ref we're ever going to see is "flag happy." It may or may not be fair, but it SHOULD be expected by now. Just saying. If that's the byproduct of the defense we play, maybe that's okay (I don't know if you've noticed, but that defense is pretty good) but it's still obviously how it's gonna be.

It is weird, but, I mean, if the guy's wide open past the entire defense, don't you kind of have to throw it to him? Also, CoJo's accuracy is insane -- look at how my beloved Bryan Schor made his receivers adjust to where he threw it, and these guys are just having the ball fall into their hands.

I have a hard time thinking a JMU guy could make it as an NFL QB, but he's got a pretty strong arm (still needs more power for NFL), he's accurate, he reads the defense well, and he's reasonably mobile.

I think it is the by-product of CAA officiating against JMU with a very proven track record of the last 5 or so seasons.......if JMU jumps out to a big lead the CAA Refs get very flag happy (one-sided) against JMU DBs in order to give the other team an advantage. This record has been played too many times with various personnel to be coincidence.

This is the best thing about the playoffs.....we don't have CAA Refs and oddly the PIs calls seem to even out and not be one-sided then.

Yes - Jeff always predicts they will get crushed, and if they happen to pull the upset he comes back to visit/celebrate. Plants the seed and see if it grows.
