To answer Hernando Hills Tiger concerning Whites attending typically "Colored" only activities during the "Jim Crow" era ....... it happened a lot more frequently than you would think.

As an example:

Midnight Ramble Ad Flyer for Louis Armstrong appearing at Palace Theater, 11: P.M. Sharp For White Patrons, Admission 50 Cents, 324 Beale St., Memphis TN - Circa 1938

Evansville, Cairo, & Memphis U.S. Mail Steam Packetboat greeted by Union Calvary, Mississippi River, Memphis TN - Circa 1862

Ways - 5238; During her early years she was operated by the U.S. Mail Line Company between Cincinnati-Louisville under command of Captain David Whitten and others. After the Civil War Captain Dexter brought her to Evansville and described her as "...terribly riddled with grape and canister shot and musket balls, cannon balls and shells; how her officers and crew escaped death is truly astonishing." He then rebuilt her and in 1866 she ran Evansville-Memphis. On February 18, 1869 she was stranded and lost at Island 35, Mississippi River

I don't remember the Goodwinslow house, I grew up in Frayser, bicycled all over Raleigh and worked at Rodney Baber.

It's tucked into quite a few acres of private woods. Check it out on the map.

I think you're confusing it with former Police Chief E. Winslow (Buddy) Chapman, who took office in 1976 and served until 1983. He's currently Executive Director of CrimeStoppers.

This is his childhood home & his current home. That's where the "Goodwinslow" name comes from.

I was speaking of Claire and Pat in the 70's/80s (but It may have been where Xman eventually resided as well).
