What do you define as success moving forward for Creighton?
A MAC championship! Winning 8 games or more! Every team in the MAC has won 8 games or more the past decade except us! Even Akron! This next season is tailored made for us to join the club! 3-1 OOC, and 5-3 MAC!

I’d second this, at least for the short term. 8+ wins this coming season would be successful, and then hopefully at least an appearance in the MACC not far behind that.

Football is a QB driven sport. In my opinion, we have the best QB in the MAC. I believe that EMU should play at Ford Field this season. Let's see how the season plays out. Creighton has done a great job stabilizing the program. The next step needs to be taken this season.

RE: The “Measuring Stick”
My proposed grading system for for next year seasons:

A: MAC championship and bowl victory (definitely lose CC to P5)
A-: 8+ wins and bowl victory (might lose CC to P5)
B+: 8+ wins and bowl loss (good EMU coach)
B: 7 wins and bowl victory (good EMU coach)
B-: 7 wins and bowl loss (good EMU coach)
C+: 6 wins and bowl victory (good EMU coach)
C: 6 wins and bowl loss (question if he peaked)
C-: 6 wins and no bowl (question if he peaked)
D+: 4-5 wins (following couple seasons on hot seat)
D: 2-3 wins (following single season on hot seat)
D-: 0-1 wins (immediately on hot seat)
E: inappropriate conduct (this is not realistically going to happen)

That seems about right - to me. I would maybe say 0-1 wins is a gots to go situation.

If you're a milestone guy like me you may be interested to know that CC is 9 wins away from 175 for a career and 11 away from tying Harkema for 4th on all time wins at EMU (41). On the flip side - CC is 7 losses away from being the EMU Coach with the most losses (58).

Looks good to me. I'd like to add in a side-question...say they do the six wins, but one of those wins is in Wisconsin. Does that win carry a little more weight and give CC's rep a boost?

Good Grading system. No on Wisconsin. EMU beat Purdue in 2018 the same year Purdue beats Ohio State. We did not win the MAC west that year.

I can’t speak for Ramy, but for me, no. I’d happily go 0-4 in OOC games if it meant going 6-2 in the MAC.

Hell yes it would. The reality is that a win over Wisconsin reaches non fans, alumni and students. It is a much more valuable win for the university and program.

I'll take A MAC championship and a bowl victory period! Last time that happened was 1987! 35 football seasons ago! CC leaves then he did his job, and accomplished something! Just like Leipold did! Buffalo last season was I believe 7-1, and won a bowl game! 8 plus wins needs to be your prerequisite in your 8th season..........

I'm with the Fan and Sam. In 2018 NIU scheduled Iowa, Utah, Florida State and BYU out of conference. They upset BYU 7-6 and got thumped by the other three. They ended the season with only 8 wins total BUT won the MACC game at Ford Field, that is where I want to be.

Honestly Mr. Howe has become the preeminent football poster on this board and I usually agree with him 100%. We have, however, recently beat three B1G teams but haven't been relevant in our conference for over 30 years nor won the Michigan MAC Trophy in ten of the last seasons.

I'm all on board with the sentiment that the number one objective for this team, particularly with the talent and experience it has, should be shooting for nothing less than a MAC title and a Bowl win. A season or two like that would do so much for this program, especially when it comes to recruiting.

My comment regarding 6-6 was that if the team indeed wins only six games (C- to C+ range in Ramy's well-thought-out scale), would you be inclined to bump CC's evaluation up to a low B if one of the 6 wins was in Wisconsin?

I would be, as I think most members on this board would be, quite disappointed if EMU only wins 6 games in 2021. With their OOC schedule, they have the legitimate potential for 3-1 right there. If the Eagles go on to win only three conference games, I'd be inclined to call the season a huge missed opportunity.

My B- grade is 7 - 5 composed of 3 - 1 OOC and 4 - 4 MAC. Hint: 7 - 5 may not be a "B-" at all MAC schools but EMU FB HCs get a slightly easier grading scale (compared to say TOL, UB, etc.).

OTOH, 3 - 1 OOC and 5 - 3 MAC yields a B+ or A- grade.

Anything beyond 8 wins is an A. And time to name the field at Rynearson after C.C. 02-13-banana

Harkema should've a statue then 10 wins in 1987! A MAC championship and the only bowl win in E Michigan history! CC has to win 8 games with this current schedule! It's his 8th season as head coach, and returns 91 percent of his starters from last year! 20 out of 22! 6-6 would be a total failure! 3-1 OOC and A 3-5 MAC simply can't happen! 5-3 MAC record has to be the expectation period!

Harkema had a couple really nice seasons. No doubt. But his overall MAC record is far below .500 as his his overall record.

So he is HOF with the following record:

Eastern Michigan: 41–57–5 32–41–4
