We are 2nd in the country in slugging percentage and 16th in OBP. This team absolutely rakes. They have 11-12 guys that have really good numbers.
Why not on ESPNU? We have the ranking and power tools. Look into it, Wood.
Talk to ODAF about this. CUSA owns the rights for baseball in the league, not much we can do about it until we either leave the league or a new deal is signed.

If we don’t host, playing in Greenville is about as good as it can get.

One more reason to leave CUSA. On another note, I like our chances to host at this point. It'd be crazy if we did and they put VCU in Norfolk. I imagine we'd have a huge turnout if we went head to head.

From the CUSA board:
"D1 Baseball predicts that the 3 C-USA teams that put in bids to host (CLT, LT, USM) will make the list of 20 finalists that will be announced on Monday. Then trim 1 or 2 teams out depending on who plays well down the stretch. I think there were 40+ teams that put in bids to host."
If that is accurate then ODU did not submit a bid to host.

Yeah no one seems to reliably know the answer to that. Hopefully we did and that info is not out in the public yet and might be why we are not seeing it mentioned.

RE: 2021 BASEBALL
I think the sites will be set next week even though the seeding is still weeks away. Pretty sure this is to prepare for all the COVID rules.
I remember hearing many years ago that our facility is not at a level to host. We have gotten closer in recent years but still not there. That may be why we did not put in a bid.
Charlotte has a problem with the state COVID rules. When we were there two weeks ago, the max attendance was less than 200. Turns out the State % maximum that was set based on capacity was way more than when you calculated the 6 foot spacing rule. If the State does not relax the rules somehow, Charlotte probably won't be able to host either. The key to hosting will be the ability to spread out. Don't be surprised to see several schools hosting while not being the #1 seed only because they can seat more than 1000 fans while abiding by the 6 foot rule and State capacity percentage maximums.

They should put all of the sites in Florida, Texas, and Tennessee. Those states are all operating at full capacity for outdoor events.

The NCAA put a requirement on the tournament that it won’t be over 50% capacity at any site regardless of the state.

Of course they did. So glad we have adults in charge.

Couldn’t ODU host at Harbor Park?

Couldn’t ODU host at Harbor Park?
In theory, sure, but the Tides have games at Harbor Park during the NCAA postseason.

Looks fixed. Nice writeup.
"Old Dominion
Here's what's scary about the Monarchs: they have all this firepower, and Ryne Moore took home the latest accolade... for C-USA pitcher of the week. This team is balanced, but we're not here to talk about strikeouts, we want to talk about the long ball and runs.
Ready for the Monarchs' resume? They are hitting a smooth .300 as a team, they are right behind Arkansas with 74 home runs and 311 runs scored, and have a .942 team OPS thanks to the second-best slugging percentage in college baseball (.540).
In last weekend's series win over then-No. 15 Charlotte, Kyle Battle got the hit parade going in each of the three wins. He had six hits, with three home runs and seven total RBI. He's hitting .307 with a 1.167 OPS and a team-high 14 home runs out of the leadoff spot. Carter Trice and Andy Garriola have been steady in the three-hole and cleanup, respectively. Trice is hitting a team-high .359 while Garriola has knocked in a team-best 53 runs."

Good to know. It originally said “CAA pitcher of the week”.
