RE: Please Bench Mack
He’s so slow, even if they aren’t kept honest with his running, their defenders should have zero problem reacting and recovering to make a play.

Please Bench Mack
I'm not sure Wolff is a long term solution, I need to see more.

But ultimately, I don't think we'd be 4-6 right now if we had stayed in the Mack era. He would've beaten FIU, but I'm not sure at all about La Tech, and we needed Wolff's performance yesterday very badly.

I understand the reasoning for Mack at the beginning of the season, he was the obvious choice at the time, but now in hindsight- I can't help wonder if we would've beaten UTEP and Marshall if we started Wolff from the beginning

Why not throw a wrench in the other school’s schemes. Put in Poff or Anthony in the goal line situations. Cannot impact their redshirt now. Might actually put the pass back into the RPO.

I would be worried that the lack of experience would lead them to do something stupid.

RE: Please Bench Mack
Wolff isn't the answer at QB, but he is the best option we have right now.

We've been winning with Wolff. I wouldnt change a thing. If we can somehow teach him to move a little in the offseason. Great. We'd probably be at 2 wins right now, maybe even 1 with Mack. If it aint broke, dont fix it.

I don't really agree with that but none of us are able to tell. Fact is though that we have been winning with Wolff, even if the schduele got drastically easier in the back half.

I don't believe we have answered the question about the position at this point.

Mack needs to roll out to pass, get him in space then let him run.

I don’t necessarily think the use of Mack in red zone situations was a failure, unless it was predetermined he was keeping it. If not then he just made some bad reads because there was space for Watson on a couple of those if he didn’t pull it. But overall the FAU defense stiffened up in the red zone.

RE: Please Bench Mack
I made a comment that the failure was not on him. Obviously the center screwed up on the 2nd drive. On another, Davis failed be be prepared for the handoff which caused Mack to keep when he was trying to hand it to Davis.

FWIW, Rahne echoed this in the post game conference. Said that he believes Mack actually played really well and got us out of some bad plays.

The reason I like Mack in the red zone...and particulary in the goal to go situations is he's a very good short yardage runner. But, on top of that, Wolff is so slow to make decisions and you can't have that in the red zone, there just isn't time.

Unless you are very quick and accurate, its really tough to pass once you get inside the 10ish yard line. I like to have someone that is a threat to run to create a numbers advantage.

Conversely I'm not a big fan of switching to Mack. You're taking away important experience and rhythm from the offense and from Wolff by subbing in someone cold off the bench. I think the best way to get Wolff to improve is have him face those opportunities. You're giving experience to a guy who will likely never start for us again, and throwing off the offense in the process. Wolff was the one reading the defense and leading all game and you take him off the field

I thought it was Watson not Davis. Either I’m wrong or thinking of a different play. Two plays in particular I’m thinking of was the running back coming left to right and going wide. Mack pulled it and ran up the middle which was stacked up. The outside was open. The other was the running back went left side off tackle and I thought there was enough of a hole for Watson to squeak through. Instead Mack pulled it and instead of going right, followed the running back and by then the hole closed. One of our TDs was actually a fade route to Paige by Wolff. Perfect throw and no read necessary. Either Paige makes the catch or it’s incomplete.

RE: Please Bench Mack
It was the second play you describe, I believe. In the north end zone and the play went left.

That was a great throw by Wolff and basically what theey need to do if he's at QB. But it was also from the 14 where he has a little more room.

I'm with you Z8. You stated your logic probably better than I would have, but we got just what I expected for us to get when Mack was in.
