If we want it to change lets find someone to donate $3 million as that is what the naming rights will cost someone to get their name on the court. Do you know anyone?

I'm trying to think who would enrage me most if they had a decal on our court.

I think for me it would be ODU. Not sure why. We've only played them twice in football. Play occasionally in basketball, but don't get hyped for those games anymore.

Yeah, I think ODU but I'm not sure why. Perhaps a bit of history, combined with a little academic snobbery.

I get it. And nah, I don’t have many contacts with multi-millionaires. I did a stint as a Duke Club chapter president once, but we didn’t raise a ton of money outside of our golf tournament. I have to believe that the second best sponsorship offer had to have been SO MUCH lower that they had to pull the trigger. It’s absolutely a pride/self-respect thing for me. I know that doesn’t pay the bills.

A bit off-topic, but in local news and somewhat related to the UVA orthopedics decal on the arena’s floor, Sentara administrators have decided to run-off all the orthopedic surgeons employed at the Harrisonburg hospital.

There were a total of 6 orthopedic surgeons at the Sentara Sports Medicine building, but 3 docs have already left, and the remaining surgeons will be gone by February. The issue apparently was a take-it or leave-it contract offered to the surgeons, and they said no. At this time there is no plan to replace them, forcing Harrisonburg residents to travel to C’ville or Staunton for orthopedic services.

This action follows Sentara’s elimination of the urology department at the Harrisonburg hospital. Honestly, after years of growth and improvement in health care services available in town these actions are concerning.

The decal does not bother me either. Also OOC for football or basketball during the Covid-19 era does not bother me. It's a one off year. I take a grain of salt with everything during this period.

Covid or not, the best home football game we can get is a program seriously considering the Patriot League.

Our all out 5 yr best effort for a home football game is Weber State.

I know some other surgical staff that worked at Sentara before; same scenario where they were they got "low balled" and said take it or leave it, so they left it and lost some great surgical talent and even better people. That was 2 or 3 years ago. My buddy is much happier now where he works than he was at Sentara.

I've not been happy with our OOC home scheduling as well. I think they tried to upgrade a little with Chatty, but they fell off from a couple years ago. They are trying to do the same with Weber. To me - if you don't move up, than just do the next best thing - home and home with NDSU. It would be the #1 regular season FCS. The loser of the game certainly won't be hurt much by a loss to the likely #1 team in the nation.

The biggest home regular season game (by far) to me at JMU was the ASU. NDSU could even be a bigger game in my opinion. Perhaps the game could kickoff the FCS season for two straight years. Might even be a college game day selection.

RE: Atlantic Union Bank Center Webcam
I was given the opportunity to tour the new building this week and...wow! Not only is the arena amazing, it felt like an NBA arena, but the behind the scenes stuff is great as well from the coaches offices overlooking the practice courts to the weight room, athletic training rooms, locker rooms, lounges, practice courts, film rooms, JMU did not hold anything back in building this place. And the seats seem to be right on top of the court. If that place were full it would be an amazing and loud experience. I cannot wait to see what it looks like full! And if we can't recruit/win with that building then we're in trouble. I'd put the new arena in the fight with any other arena in D1. It may not be the biggest but the technology, lighting, video boards are all incredible. Well done JMU.

Here is to hoping that Byington does something with the Bank and I don't mean JMU's non descript incomplete answer to athletics, "win" without regard to who JMU is scheduling and beating.

I hope Byington is the coach to schedule programs on the regular that JMU alum think are JMU's peers, not the programs that the administration thinks are JMU's peers so we can "JMU win."

Well, that was the tour I WAS expecting and told I would get in exchange for my generous donation, but we were just walked around the main concourse and shown the club room. That was it. We did not get to see the coaches offices, weight room, training room, locker room, lounge, practice court, or film room. I was not very happy after being told that was all we were getting to see, either.

DoubleDuke2016 is our T. Boone Pickens- got the insiders tour.
All kidding aside, it's great to hear so many people raving about how it looks in person.

I got the same experience as Bill...I was also expecting something more along the lines of what doubleduke2016 got...

But I will say that the arena is freaking awesome.

Haha. Not quite but I do know a guy who was working on it and has access to the whole place. He was able to take me around and show me everything. It is an impressive place but there is still a lot of finishing touches going on.

All the scaffolding has been taken down from around the sign monolith out front. Looks like they are getting close to completing that also.

Started to open a new thread about touring the facility, but will leave it here. Milton (HMK) toured the arena last week. Having played in Godwin and watching through the years at the Convo, I have to say I wasn't prepared for what I saw. This arena is second only to the John Paul Jones Arena. It will be the envy of all other colleges in Virginia. It has a BIG time feel to it with all the bells and whistles. It was so much better than I had imagined. Recruits should flock to it. Kudos to Charlie King and Jeff Bourne once again for delivering first class facilities. Those two have done so much for our athletics they should be inducted into our Hall of Fame before they retire!

There was never a doubt in my mind that the facility would be amazing. Every building on our campus is first class and Charlie had a hand in building or renovating most of them. He also found the funding too.

Be ready for the naysayers to find something wrong with it. More negative people saying negative things.

I plan to attend the Radford and ODU games. I am really looking forward to doing so.

Yeah he’s right/ some of the fans on these boards will probably critique that the bathrooms don’t have purple toilet paper and the placement of the tuba section.

When you take a single sentence and leave the rest of the post out, it can change the entire interpretation of the message for a reader. Is that your intent? The post as you have shared it is now out of context.

My message was indeed positive if read in its entirety. The Bank is an incredible addition to the campus among many incredible additions.

You continue to nitpick my posts Hyper. I am not sure why they get under your skin so much since none of them are directed at you. If they bother you so much, please consider blocking me. That way you don’t have to get so upset.

Not upset at all. Just pointing out continued hypocrisy from those who show it the most. If my posts make you upset, please consider blocking me.
