Heh, I was being sarcastic. I don’t think there’s any benefit to being negative about other’s negativity. However, people can post what they want to. I’ll be here to call out hypocrisy if I read it. For clarity, a neighboring division 1 university’s name on the court is my issue. You’re not wrong that it’s words, but I suspect most see it differently than just words.

I wanted to post this because frequently this place is a sounding board for criticisms (for me) more so than cheers or congratulations. That isn’t representative of my complete thoughts on JMU Athletics’ leadership. So here goes.
I agree with BSKB that those two deserve the bulk of the credit for the incredible facilities we have at JMU. No hedging from me at all. They deserve thanks and praise. And if BSKB says they should be inducted, who am I to disagree? For me, the commitment from our leadership to fully funding ALL our varsity sports programs is what I truly admire the most. I’m as pro-FBS as many, but I cringe when people suggest we stop that funding practice in order to funnel even more funding toward FB & MBB. I know it’s idealistic to a degree, but our leaders have shown that doing the right thing with program funding is possible and I am so grateful to be an alumnus from a place that walks the walk in this regard.

Forgive me if this has been posted already, but have you noticed how small the "UVA Orthopedics" is on the baseline?
I didn't think it would be as large as it was being displayed on some mock ups of the court, and I was right.
The fact that we got that much money from them for such a small part of the baseline is just fine by me.

Greg Madia has a twitter post from his tour of the facility where it shows the court. The one I saw, it's towards the bottom of the picture.
It appears at the corner of the court in pretty small letters and doesn't even stretch out to the straight part of the outside 3 point line.

When I toured in person, I noticed and commented on how small it was.

Went in today wow, nice.
The UVA lettering on the court is really small, worth the $ IMO.
Anybody that thinks is seems small, I don't get that...I was there with a UVA alum that seemed to think it was a nice as JPJ in Cville...not sure I can go there but really nice...

....better than VCU, GMU, W&M...never been to ODU.
I think better than old azz Cassell in Bburg and JPJ is just awesome so not comparing to JPJ which has no equal IMO.

JPJ is terrific no doubt and without peer.
but there are things I like better about AUB than JPJ
1. the open concourse. you can see the game while at the concessions or waiting to get in
2. the club level - maybe JPJ has it, but i am not familiar with it, i like how ours is configured. i think they have suites
3. the purple on grey - looks awesome
4. the industrial styling. maybe it wont age well, but it looks terrific now
the JPJ has nicer finishings, and is bigger, but we are right there.
I have been to xfinity/comcast @ UMD- imo, AUB is way better. the xfinity center is just not well designed. I like the steep student center at MD, but that is about it. oh, the concessions are pretty good.
i hear we are selling beer during the games. with our results, we really needed that the last 5 years

Looks like the screens are going up today (or at least starting to) on the front sign

When I looked at the cam earlier today I saw the crane by the monolith so I figured the screens were getting ready to be mounted. Won't be long now. Looking forward to seeing what the whole setup looks like.

Only 5 years? Your bar is lower than mine.

Looks like the sign panels have been installed on both sides of the monolith. Looking forward to seeing it all lit up!! Some landscaping still to do around it though.

Looks like they're starting to do some color/video tests on the side facing the arena!
I'm wondering they're waiting to put up the other signage on there before installing sod...otherwise JMU can usually knock that out in a few hours

I was lucky enough to catch the WBB game there this weekend and it is a fantastic venue. I'm excited to see what it looks like full but it was also an interesting experience to be there when it is essentially empty. I could hear all the talk from the players, coaches, refs which was a very different experience. Also, since it is mostly family of players there you got a pretty engaged and lively group.

Bumping to view the winter weather in the Burg. Was sleeting for a short time here in RVA early a.m., supposed to be nasty cold rain otherwise.

Watching on TV - that arena looks to be awesome.
If that sucker is loud, it could provide the best home court in VA - including UVA.
I laughed the first time I noticed the UVA Ortho's under each player's seat. I knew that would drive Hyper Nutz.
That score board looks amazing.
I'll certainly attend a game once they allow the peasants to attend.
I can't imagine a better recruiting tool.
