In all serious I think Ian McCaw gets the band back together and calls Art Briles. Lord have mercy if you have a daughter that goes to Liberty, if that is the case. Made sure she carries a weapon at all times.

McCaw is the exact reason I brought Briles up. The situation at Baylor was bad and I still don't think anyone will ever know the depths that scandal went. I think the public only heard the top of the situation. I think if you tore the whole scab off of the scandal we would see it goes much deeper.

Truth is anyone that was implicated in that scandal should have been banned from ever working at another NCAA school, even cleaning bathrooms.

Are we implying that the fact Hugh Freeze hampered his career by working at Liberty more than his actions at Ole Miss did? Surely not. I think he's holding out for his next SEC gig. The only SEC jobs he's been offered at is OC at Alabama, Auburn, and TN to my knowledge. He's been shut down by the SEC commissioner himself on that. Personally I think he's had a lot more offers than that, but at $2 million a year, I think he's content staying at Liberty until the SEC is ripe for him to return.

You cant make it without a schedule like that though. They kind of have an advantage in making their own schedule if they can get teams like that to play them. Not dependent on your conference to be great as well. They have the money and support they just need to keep hitting on good hires. Low probability but lower for most G5's in a conference outside the AAC.

Liberty fan confused by the sidetracking of this thread. Nothing but respect for the Chants and what they have done this year. The Sun Belt has proven to be a boon for the program and I wish them nothing but success until the regular season finale.

Liberty 's main problem is that they do business more like University of Phoenix than Arizona State. Put aside all the political and religious intrigue and the bottom line is that Presidents decide and career educational administrators are not voting for a school who has a mission that different financially from theirs.

He's an ESPN Top 300 prospect and is all in on the mission of our school and wants to be a pastor. He fits the profile of the kids we are capable of landing now that we are viewed as a legitimate football option for top tier kids.

I honestly don't want to derail the Coastal recognition any more than necessary. But based on the events of the summer, Liberty is making a pretty strong pivot right now away from politics back toward our original mission of training Champions for Christ. Junior and all his baggage is gone with him. No one knows what the educational landscape will look like post-pandemic. But we feel good about how our university is positioned for the future.

It will be interesting to see how both Coastal and Liberty respond to having all of this recent attention. Obviously we won't be sneaking up on VT and NC State in the coming weeks. And suddenly the Chants have become a prized opponent to be taken down by the rest of the SBC. The next month or so should be fun.

Liberty has tried to buy their way into other conferences and that is a Big Red Flag to School Presidents and Athletic Departments. No one wants to have the New Guy throwing their weight and money around to get what they want. Earn it like the rest of us did.
