I hope he comes in and does some really good work for us on defense and on the boards. He looks athletic and moves good, but that free throw percentage is downright scary. Even Wilt had a higher free throw percentage than that!

3-5. Too small of a sample size. Richard Ross hit his first 2 treys as a Freshman.

Check his stats. He only shot about 6 times from the three. Looks good on paper. How tall is he, and will he improve from the foul line? He will get fouled a lot. If he is that good, then why did he only start one game and had a season average of 5 points per game. He would make a nice bench back up on own team, since the recruiting is awful, when it comes to higher talent.

Glad we got a big, but he doesn’t sound as good as the guy we pulled the scholly offer from. I guess we will find out.

Like is fluid footwork. Looks like he has decent jump hook and shot mechanics. Nice get and with a year of D1 strength and conditioning he could be a honest big man scoring threat especially in our offense.

Different classes Morris still has another year before coming here, correct? They may see some projection.
And 28 free throws is a tiny sample, fwiw

This cat averaged 5 points, 2 boards, and shot 43% from the freethrow line. What exactly am I missing here?

I wish him nothing but success but can someone educate me why I should be excited? Is it unrealistic for us to hope for a highly rated/sought after big man? I would love to be proven totally wrong.

We needed a big body to eat up bench minutes. We potentially got it. I would also suggest you look at the games where he played more minutes, he had some really productive games and he still has a season to go before he will even get to campus.

Finding a big that is high level scorer and an all around talent...will not happen at our level. So...this kid has the basics and looks like he can mature physically to become a decent player. That is what I look at not his production at a JUCO level that is all about guards and getting up and down the court. Kid is mobile and can play above the rim. I will take it.

Team had 6 players 6-7 or taller, split 50/50 SO & FR. Lot of bodies for the minutes available.
One of those a 7'1" committed to New Mexico.
Another was a 6-8 forward who committed to Oregon State

YOU ARE RIGHT, NOT AT OUR LEVEL AS LONG AS JJ IS STILL HERE. WE HAVE THE FANS, THAT SOME MAJOR COLLEGES CAN'T GET, BUT HAVE MORE TALENTED RECRUITS. A YONG P5 ASSISTANT AND GOOD RECRUITER, WOULD TURN THIS PROGRAM AROUND!

Kilgore is a pretty good team for that level. They have a couple D1 prospects and were loaded last year (and expected to be in the upcoming season). Morris' game is pretty versatile for his size. Good rebounder. Can spread the floor a little bit and is a good rim runner.

If UR (Golden) and WKU (Basset) can recruit great big men, we certainly should be able to as well. Even W&M had a formidable front line last year. I give JJ an F when it comes to recruiting (or keeping) decent big men. The issue is not “our level” in my view.

Bassey is a different animal and we aren't recruiting at WKYs level while $tansbury is there.
Grant Golden was a not a great recruit. He had offers from Richmond, American, Furman, Holy Cross, JMU. He turned into a great big man. FWIW, if we signed him back in 2016, people would be saying bad things about our recruiting.
FWIW, here are our big men:
Arledge
Stith
Porter
Ekizpe
Dickens
Really not a bad group despite the highest ranking guy (Dickens) not working out.

Agree, Kilgore had a couple good bigs that he played behind. Let's see how he does this year, as the go to guy. JuCos usually play a bunch of players. From the highlights, he seems to move well without the ball, active on defense, good hands, solid frame, his shot looks smooth. I'm thinking he'll be ok. Remember you need a doz players just to scrimmage and practice.
