All the rest have 1 or none at this point. What these ratings mean, except for bragging rights, is a mystery to me. I tend to trust the Coaches to take the best ones they think fit needs, culture, academics, etc. AAC out recruiting all G4 conferences in a big way, FWIW.

ECU only has 4 total recruits for the 2021 cycle so far with an avg recruit ranking of 84.57 (5th best in the AAC at the moment). Due to having such a small senior class ECU likely won't exceed 15 total recruits. Hopefully, the focus is quality over quantity this year.

while they don't factor into the class ranking(s), transfers do count against class size - and, like several AAC teams, it seems like ECU has been getting its share of transfers - that also limits the number of froshthat you can sign

List of currently committed recruits and their P5 offers. Didn’t include punters for Cincy and USF. While browsing at the level and quantity of P5 offers, SMU was definitely the most impressive so far.

Cincy
10/15 (3 have 1 P5 offer)
Memphis
12/14 (4 have 1 P5 offer)
SMU
10/11 (2 have 1 P5 offer)
UCF
8/9 (1 has 1 P5 offer, funny enough is also the highest ranked on 247)
USF
6/8 (1 has 1 P5 offer)
Temple
4/9 (1 has1 offer)
UH
3/4 (2 have 1 P5 offer, both by Duke)
ECU
2/4
Tulane and Tulsa
1/4

Good stuff! Glad to see our conference doing well in recruiting. Pair that with our raise we should continue to get better. Bright times ahead

Great pickups. Has there been any movement up the recruiting rankings with these additions so far?

Sweet. Now maybe Golesh can focus on recruiting some other positions. I'm almost confident we offered every single TE in the country by now

2 of our recent commits aren’t rated yet, so we’re at 64 right now.

We don't anymore actually. Heup said we're trying to give you guys all of Florida in hopes of making our rivalry competitive. We hope that's enough although I'm not sure

Some people are speculating that the staff is focused on out of state kids right now bc there’s only virtual contact, so that they can focus on in person recruits from Florida when the dead period is over. At least, that’s the hope, but most of these recruits seem pretty good, so it’s not that big of a deal.

it is strange, but i'll take a 6'7" TE and a 6'3" LB with speed wherever they're from. the majority of our players typically come from Florida and Georgia, but now we're all over the conference footprint.

Good one?
It was a legitimate question seeing as only 2 of your 11 commits are Floridians but sure be a D Bag.

That makes sense actually. I wasn't saying they weren't good btw. Just thought it was peculiar.

There's little point in recruiting Florida kids right now considering none of them can get on our campus or see our gameday atmosphere which is a big selling point. That's when we get most of our FL recruits. Why not use this time to recruit kids you wouldn't normally be able to with Summer camps and the Fall season, and use your time on FL kids after the dead period. The idea looks good on paper, and it's starting to work rather well

I guess I would disagree to a certain extent. Obviously the main goal is to end up with the best 25 players you can get every year, since you're limited to 25 scholarships every year. If it turns out that the players you're offering scholarships to from out of state are likely to end up that much higher than any of the Florida recruits, then you're almost certainly correct. But the track record tends to be much higher for Florida recruits than just about any other state. And, for example, beating out Army, Howard and Eastern Illinois, sure looks like a reach over taking a local kid.

There's also the long term relationship issue with local coaches. Coaches want their kids to get schollys. If they perceive the 'local' program as focusing on recruits from outside of the area and turning their backs on local kids, they're less likely to be advocates for that program when they do have studs. It clearly has to be done in moderation, since some high school coaches will also push their less qualified kids on the local team, too, but you don't want to burn bridges. As one example that's certainly relevant to both of our schools, George O'Leary recognized the value in keeping local coaches (and recruits) happy, while Skip Holtz was a blundering idiot. O'Leary offered both Griffin twins up front, while Holtz only recognized the value in this far too late:

https://www.tampabay.com/sports/college/...e/2332417/

Guess what, Lakewood hasn't sent a kid to USF ever since, despite being in our back yard. They've sent 3 star recruits to Illinois, FAU, Iowa State and Pitt, but not a player back to USF.

So only time will tell if it's smart that Heupel is spending so many scholarship offers on out of state kids. Now, if you're going to say that he's overoffering and will reneg on some of these kids or ask them to greyshirt, that's a different story that can be rocky on its own. But it's definitely a unique strategy, and may even prove to be the right one. But even the most diehard UCF fan has to recognize that it comes with risks, both in the near term and in the long term...
