I don't know about Betts, but considering that AD's agent is also LeBron's agent and business partner, you should not hold out much hope of AD leaving the Lakers after this season.

saw the following about it:

“He’s going to be behind,” (Braves Manager Brian) Snitker said. “He irritated his (shoulder) doing some weighted ball exercises over the course of the winter. So that’s going to set him behind. It’s nothing I think will be major. We’ll evaluate him in three weeks and see where he’s at.”

Take a look at this picture and tell me Friedman isn't going after Betts hard...

[Image: hi-res-b297d28dbd38726062a3c8641d526a11_...crop_y=top]

I mean, look at him leaning in! (On the other hand, it looks like Mookie is leaning away) 03-lmfao Seriously, the Dodgers are over the tax threshold for 2020 but have nearly $80MM coming off the books after this season and a lot more after next season. Plenty of ability to spend and an exclusive negotiating window.

The idea that LA would be "devastated" by AD and/or Mookie leaving as FAs? That misunderstands LA fans and the circumstances of both teams by a wide margin. Frankly, it seems like projection and/or wishful thinking. After the FA market this offseason? There's no way any thinking baseball fan would believe the Dodgers (or anyone else) could guarantee a FA signing. And as noted above LA will have the financial wherewithal to chase after lots of good players the next couple of seasons. You know what would be devastating? Losing a 3rd WS in 4 years. That would ******* break us.

The Lakers, on the other hand, have a lot more to lose. They have no payroll room and they leveraged the future to trade for AD. If he's gone they're toast. BUT, they were toast before they got him. Lakers fans are completely clear that this was a big risk and understand the potential downside. And Wedge is right - if the Lakers continue to do well it's very hard to imagine AD leaving.

Astros will be booed everywhere for a long time. They've become public enemy #1 in MLB.

MLB had reasons and cause to strip their WS championship. They just didn't want to give itself a black eye in the process.

Do you think the Dodgers will try to resign Turner?

If not, who goes to 3B?

Dodgers have $123M going to 8 players.
They have contracts to arbitrate with:
Barnes ($1.1 in 2020)
Bellinger ($11.5 in 2020)
Buelher (will be Arb 1 in 2021)
Florio
Seager ($7.5 in 2020)
Stripling ($2.1 in 2020)
Urias (will be Arb 1 in 2021)

Figure at least $35 million in 2021 to that group.
Plus fill another 10 spots on the roster

Here's hoping King Felix makes a comeback.

Depends on how JT does this year but I'd expect them to make at least a token offer. He'll have to take a lot less of course. Seager is an option to move over, Lux to SS. Not sure about 2B. Maybe Muncy, maybe a FA?

I think I read they'll lose $150MMish off the books over the next two years. Obviously, a lot of guys in there they'd like to keep and arb #s for guys like Bellinger and Buehler will be (comparatively) big but the main point is that LA is projecting monster payroll flexibility and that gives them all kinds of options. But the farm has taken a pretty decent hit over the last couple of years and while still very good isn't as stacked as it was. I assume this means they'll spend a little more energy on FAs for the next couple of years or so.

KTLA is a local LA station, just in case you couldn't guess that.

I still think the rules change that a lot of folks have kind of glossed over but is huge- is the pitchers going back to 15 day IL/option period. It's not getting anywhere near the pub of the 3 batter rule- but I think it's going to have a far larger role.

Both will affect Davey...

And yes, prevents teams from claiming fake injuries (every pitcher has muscle soreness after an outing), to bring up fresh arms.
