I think Oubre would really fit in here.

Why would Phoenix do that?

i would play AI before I traded a 1st for Oubre

I don't know, Oubre might help put the Grizzlies back to make playoff runs for the next four or five seasons at least. He has the motor and skillset that we need imo.
We aren't likely to get a player that Dynamic with Utah's pick.

We are likely moving Crowder and Hill in other deals.

I don't like the idea of trading Tyus but he would likely be a needed piece for Phoenix to bite.

I would definitely trade Tyus and Anderson for Oubre. I would hang on to the Utah first though. If Phoenix insists on a pick we can use one of our many upcoming seconds. Seconds are mostly 'sweetners' anyhow. As for the hole at backup point guard, we have two more than capable players on the Hustle. Either Marquis Teague or Dusty Hannahs would fill Tyus Jones spot for our last 36 games.

Well it's a good thing we won't have Utah's pick this year or next year.

It's more likely we get Utah's pick in the 2022 draft which very well could be the first year with high schools kids being in the draft again. So we have no idea what we could get with Utah's pick. I'm willing to wait and see what's there instead of just dealing away firsts like the last FO would do.

The issue I have with Oubre is so you bring him over in a trade, but he becomes a free agent after next season and he's a guy that already makes $14M. So you are getting him for a season and a half and there is no guarantee Grizz would/could re-sign him. So essentially traded Tyus and first for a rental.

If Grizz are going to do a trade to acquire a young player get one that has 2 or 3 years left on their contract.

I don't think out last FO ever traded for a player as good as Oubre.

Yeah I don't like trading Tyus but he is our back up point guard behind possibly the most promising PG in the league. Utah needs a solid PG behind Rubio. Kyle Anderson will help Phoenix's depth.

Maybe the Grizz can pull this off without Utah's pick like UofMark said, idk

I've just seen the trade possibility discussed elsewhere and thought I'd mention it here.

I like the idea of adding Oubre to our core now. He is young and would replace Crowder easily. f he did leave in 2 years then that just opens up more money for JJJ and Jas 2nd contracts. Just something to consider.

I really appreciate this board. It's nice to see good discourse on the city's only major pro sports team.

The future is bright for sure.

Looks like Iggy could possibly wind up in Milwaukee for their 2030 pick.

Yeah, he expected us to pay him to play for the Lakers. Chris Wallace would certainly have done that.

Why did the Griz agree to pay him while he sits? They should have said if he doesn't report then they withhold his salary. $17 mill isn't chump change.

Didn't really care if he played since this was supposed to be a rebuilding season and the had already received value for taking him.

I really like both, but if you did that, wouldn’t you essentially be drafting a second Brandon Clarke?

Defensively you’d think Precious could help a lot.

Kindof yeah, but I think Precious will be a great 3 in the NBA once his shot rounds into form. I think Clarke is more of a 4.

We do need a backup to Jonas imo.

The payment is to keep his rights to trade. They could seek to refuse to pay him after 30 days, but I think they renege on his rights. They are already under the cap after buying out Cousins at a discount, so they aren't hurting for the money.

2 other things are being paid for: to not be around the young core to be a disgruntled entitled cancer, and to not play for another team, possibly against the Grizz, if the Grizz make the playoffs.

After receiving a GSW first rounder to take him, I think the team determined those factors are worth paying him despite him not playing.

They probably didn't expect Iggy's fellow Wildcat Solo to be this productive after getting him for what would have been part of a Chandler's buyout. So they probably were considering throwing money away on Solo, too. But have unexpected value from him, at least in the locker room. He's the better, more professional, Arizona Wildcat.
