Hahahaha

Q Rose has been a very good perimeter defender this and last season. He's a key player in Temple's back court, which has held opponents to an average FG3% of .282. Temple's back court is ranked #30 nationally in perimeter defense.

https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/sch.../2020.html

Rose's "D rating" is 86.9 (estimated 86.9 points given up per 100 opponent possessions), making him the #3 player on the team in this category.

https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/sch.../2020.html

Rose's Defensive Box Plus/Minus is 4.3, making him the #3 player on the team in this category, among players who have played in at least 5 games this season.

https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/sch.../2020.html

Rose's Defensive Win Share is 0.9, making him the #2 player on the team in this category.

https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/sch.../2020.html

DeVondre Perry is considered one of the best defensive players on the team, but Q Rose currently leads Perry in 2 of the above categories and is tied with Perry in the 3rd.

I'm amazed at how consistently pathetic East Carolina is. How do they do that?

That's with Gardner having an efficient top 10-15 statistical year in the NATION currently by several metrics. That's what's amazing to me that we still have this terrible record vs this quality of schedule with a player of this caliber Dooley is squandering. Gardner has a +27 net rating per 100 possession, we'd probably be 300+ NET/RPI without him.

On paper this staff looked like an awesome get for ECU (national media agreed), but Dooley has had some of the stupidest rotations ever. If he actually fixed them we might have a chance to be decent because we do have 6 pretty good players and 5 of them are underclassmen including a great one, but I just about lost faith in that at this point. Dooley runs in and out 11 players and never lets them build chemistry and constantly sits some of the 6 good ones like Suggs or Newton for complete duds like JJ Miles.

Yes we had some bad luck injuries but we still lost games we shouldn't because of Dooley like Navy where he benched Gardner and LeDay and played 7 footers when they didn't even have a 6-8+ guy, or App where he played the biggest lineup in the nation that had no chance to be successful. Had they not been injured, yeah we could have won some games if the rotations were ok but I have little faith Dooley would have stopped playing JJ Miles and played Freshman Suggs or Newton more early regardless when he doesn't play them now over him, and they were just as good or better as Jackson/Robinson have been so it's not like we lost much on court value really with how Dooley runs the team.

The only silver lining is we have one of the best players in the nation who is a sophmore, another good sophmore, and 3 good freshman. I don't even blame Dooley for some of the duds they looked like they should be a lot better being at places like Washington and shooting 39% from 3 in JUCO's. No one expected them to shoot 14% here like Baruti, but his rotations are atrocious and have lost us games, and will continue to get us embarrassed if he doesn't cut them down and stop playing guys like JJ miles 22+ minutes.

Temple’s defense is ranked so high because Temple’s HC installed a pressure perimeter defense this season. Temple gives up 3 less points per 100 possessions which is not much is because Temple plays a pressure defense more when Rose is on the court than when Perry is on the court.
So there is no real difference between the two.

I would add that last season when Temple played no pressure defense, Perry was slightly better defensively than Rose both for the season and in conference.

You should be pointing out that Perry is ranked as the best shooter in AAC, and Rose one of it’s worse. As Perry is shooting 51.7 percent on three’s, and 55.2 percent on 2’s, as compared to Rose’e 23.9 percent on three’s, and 42.1 percent on two’s. He takes over 25 percent more fga’s than any other Temple player, and misses Temple’s most shots by far.

Rose has made 51 fga’s and missed 90 fga’s in the 11 games he has played. His poor shooting directly leads to many opponent points. That wouldn’t be happening if Perry started. As Perry has made 31 fga’s and missed but just 27 fga’s.

Perry should at least be playing more than Rose. Rose wouldn’t even be starting on most other AAC teams.

Here and in other forums your drumbeat of how terrible Rose plays is really tiresome. How do I know you are way off base? Our HC depends on Rose and our opponents HCs key on him, except when they vote him first team preseason all-conference. Rose is a good player; he is not a good shooter but he is a scorer. Give it a rest already.

Have respect for you Vick Mike, but think you’re way off base on Rose. Just want to see Temple succeed this year, and do thank Rose is an impediment to that. Sorry his offensive stats don’t make you gringe. Huge mistake to make him focal point of the offense. But hopefully he’ll continue to shoot less often.

Not worthy of second team all-conference last season nor first team all-conference pre-season this year.

No one keys on him. Opponents want him to shoot. Posters from other conference opponents have pointed out his deficiencies here.

i still have no clue how you come up with most of your analysis.. you take basic stats remove all context and make up your own meaning
its like you dont even watch the games

teams are selling out on rose every game and its blatantly obvious on film..
teams dont want him to shoot, if you want someone to shoot, you gaurd him with shorter players and give them 5feet at the 3pt (which is how teams are defending dejon)...if you watch temple their is always someone tall (6'7+) guarding him close at the 3pt line always with help defense

you are obsessed with basic percentages with no context....

My bad saying Rose shooting 42 percent on two’s, and 23 percent on three’s is bad. What so complicated in understanding that making 51 fha’s and missing 90 fga’s is not good. He’s had bad shooting percentages every year. Doesn’t matter if he guarded or not. Sometimes drives with head down. Watch his games better.

Guess you think he had a great game this afternoon, shooting 5-14 from the field with five turnovers.

Doesn’t matter who guards him. He makes bad decisions going to the hoop and often crashes and burns like today, or finishes poorly at the rim. He has plenty of open three point shots that he misses. He’s also shooting but 23 percent percent on 12-51 two-point jump shots. He creates separation on two and three point jumpers. Misses both equally.

You tell readers which AAC teams have signed good or bad incoming freshmen for next season when you have no idea.

I don’t see teams concentrating against on defending Rise, you do. Regardless, I say he’s a crappy scorer whether opponents concentrate on him or not.

Relying as you do on ranking services to tell us who is good is virtually meaningless. Should see players for yourself, make a judgment, and pass that on. Then we can se if you know what your talking about.

Temple does have the deepest talent pool. Can tell that by how good their defense is. Dre Perry, Alani Moore, and Alani Moore, are Temple’s best shooters. They should be taking Temple’s most shots. They aren’t because inexplicably McKie has Rose, Temple’s worse shooter, taking Temple’s most shots. As a result Temple has 3-losses.

Scott has been described by Temple coaches and players the past two years as by far Temple’s best shooter in team scrimmages. At his prior school, he scored very well against top 50 teams. He shot 46 percent on three’s over a five game stretch so far this season. Appears to have had difficulty adjusting to coming off the bench.

Rose's box score in the game @ UCF:

In 30 minutes of action: 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, & 3 steals

(1 positive statistic per minute of action)

Coach McKie: "(QR's 'finger)prints' were all over that game."

==============================================

Rose's stat line to date, per 40 minutes of playing time:

18.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 2.3 steals, 0.4 blocks

total: 32.5 positive stats per 40 minutes (.8125 per minute)

That's nothing to sneeze at. Shizz Alston had 32 positive stats per 40 minutes and was first team all-AAC last season.

I'll cut Dooley a tiny bit of slack on this he absolutely thought and fully believed Baruti and JJ Miles were going to be good players (I did too especially Baruti) and played them as such. This is where I end cutting him slack because we lost the Navy game because he didn't start Gardner (HOW IN THE **** DO YOU EVER NOT START GARDNER) and despite having no foul trouble he played 26 minutes in a game we lost close. You deserve to be roundly mocked for having one of the best players in the country on the bench that much in a loss to a not very good team. He did this junk with LeDay all last year, and people defended it on our board because they said LeDay was a malcontent and bad influence. Even if I buy that as a valid reason Gardner is anything but that he's a great kid, hustles his ass off every single day, and is everything you want on and off the court.

You tell readers which AAC teams have signed good or bad incoming freshmen for next season when you have no idea.

noo one said his percentages are good...
you just changed what you said..you said teams arent "keying in on him" ..thats not reality...he is the most defended person on temple, and its not close.....

and im not telling people which freshman are good or bad....the recruiting services are telling us which are touted and im just noting it ...
nothing of what you wrote is right

you keep telling readers monty scott is elite, tell us temple is the best shooting team in the conference, with the deepest talent pool, and that temple is still going to win the league

Memphis, Wichita and Houston all have deeper talent pools than Temple. I'm not quite sure how you can argue otherwise. Temple plays 3 players over 30 min a game. They ride those players. Memphis and Wichita play zero over 30. Houston just 1 (Grimes) Much less drop off with the benches at the Top 3 teams.

He displays that same talent on the Temple boards under a different screen name.

Is it possible for someone to put in a keyword to block themselves from reading on this site? For instance, ECU or East Carolina as the key word(s)? Asking for a friend.
