not saying temple will be bad, just saying from this year to next year temple might be worse...which could still be a good team
alani/rose are huge essential parts of your team..
with what is coming in, even with improvements dont think it "replaces" those 2..
dont think those guys are irreplaceable or anything like that but no one temple is bringing in is touted...
Agree that there is no single replacement for Rose, or A. Moore, but next season's back court may be as productive, and more-so in some respects, than it has been this season. A lot of Temple fans are expecting Temple to have a potential NCAA quality team next season.
The second line of Temple guards and wings has been improving rapidly this season, and will be joined in January by a G/W (Damian Dunn) who showed considerable promise during preseason scrimmages and could become a solid contributor by late-to-mid-season.
Although the 3 (1 RS sophomore transfer, 2 freshmen) incoming Guards and G/Wings aren't yet well-known, they're well-regarded 3 star quality players. One will help bolster the PG position and the other two will join a committee of players who will fill the gap left when Rose moves on.
You were definitely on target about QR and AM, particularly Rose, who has become a terrific defender this season and averages nearly 1 (.805) positive statistic per minute of play. However,
a committee of eight (4 current, 1 soon to play, 1 incoming transfer, 2 incoming freshmen)
guards & G/Wings may be able to fill the gaps left by Rose and Moore very capably.
Regarding A. Moore, he's playing the best ball of his career, but he doesn't hold a candle to Shizz Alston, who played the (PG) position last season, when it comes to scoring (10.5 ppg, vs. Alston's 19.7 ppg) and assists (2.9 apg, vs. Alston's 5.0 apg). He's a .400 FG3% shooter, but only averages ~ 0.6 positive stats per minute played. The play-making duties are distributed among three back court players, functioning as CGs or G/Ws, and one F.
With Dunn (CG; capable play-maker) and Strickland (former Wisconsin PG) joining the team, plus two developing current back-up combo guards with play-making skills (JPL, Scott), the PG/CG position is likely to be as productive next season as it has been this season, to date.
Overall, with NPL (Sr. CG), Perry (Sr. combo Wing/F), Scott (Jr. CG), JPL (Soph. CG), and Dunn (Soph. CG, soon to play) returning, and with Strickland (RS Soph. PG), Ademokoya (Fr. SG/Wing), and Jahlil White (Fr. SG/Wing) joining the team, Temple is likely to have a solid back court with a fair amount of depth next season.
