Construction has started on the new Downtown Birmingham stadium where UAB and the Birmingham Bowl will play in 2021. Legacy Arena (formerly the BJCC) will also received a $125 million dollar face lift so it no longer looks like a bomb shelter.

The Sheraton is currently renovating all 757 rooms at this time.

I’ll probably get flamed for this, but what’s up with the literal interpretation of sponsoring the board? Why did someone think including the words Video Board was a good thing? Like, why not just make the corporate logo bigger & assume people understand what that large screen object is?

RE: Stadium Renovation and Construction Thread
haha I thought the same thing. Possibly needed to fill the length of the area of the design width wise. And you can't make TowneBank fit the width on it's own without severely skewing the font?

Maybe we worked out a deal where they pay us per letter? Ya, that's it.

No idea. It's weird. I completely agree with your assessment. But while we're on the subject, why is JMUs mascot named Duke Dog? We all know it's a dog representing the JMU Dukes. Why not call him Sammy Duke after his namesake or Spike or something other than the literal explanation of what the mascot is?

Massive erection taking place in Cuse today. It may last more than 4 hours.

And so it begins. This is the 1100 ton crane and there will be a 850 ton crane on the other side. They will be in place through the end of the year. They will be building the truss above the Dome. Next March, the Dome deflates and the new roof gets installed through early September.

I am amazed at how a school went from shutting down the program to this in five years? Whomever was most responsible for this, I am surprised they have not been gobbled up by a bigger school to lead to a turnaround...
