RE: Biggest opposing fan takeover you’ve seen
When Nebraska and Kansas were in the same conference, Nebraska would take over football games in Lawrence and Kansas would take over basketball games in Lincoln. There's a weird soft spot for Kansas basketball because of it, but I don't know if the feeling's mutual.

I went to a Tennessee - Kentucky basketball game back in the Allan Houston era (late 80s or early 90s) - and Thompson-Boling arena (Tennessee's arena) was pretty blue inside.

1991. North Carolina at Cornell basketball. Students were gone for winter break and the game was scheduled because King Rice was from Binghamton and a senior at UNC.

RE: Biggest opposing fan takeover you’ve seen
In 2017 I attended the PSU-Maryland football game at College Park. This was the Saturday after Thanksgiving and kids were on break and, additionally, PSU was making a push for the Big Ten title and playoff consideration while Maryland had a losing record and knew that they weren't going bowling despite having a pretty good team. The tickets my group got ended up being in or above the Maryland student section but that didn't matter as even that was pretty much all Penn State fans.

Earlier this year I attended the Big Ten wrestling tournament (also at Maryland) which, while technically a neutral site, was close to a 1-1 PSU-Everybody Else crowd, especially if you don't count athletes families.

That said, it was a unique circumstance with Indiana St being 80 miles from Indy, and UGA/SHU/Utah being faraway.

Otherwise, it was the Nebraska @ Notre Dame game I attended in 2000. This was at the prime of Nebraska's popularity and Nebraska was ranked #1 in the country. The stadium was 2/3 Nebraska fans. I wish smart phones existed back then -- I just remember people walking in/out of the stadium with some sort of "walkie" that had an antenna where they could watch a blurred feed of NBC. Can't recall what the device was called.

I remember that game when Nebraska went to South Bend. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread.

I can also remember Georgia with a similar takeover of Notre Dame Stadium, though not quite on the level of Nebraska.

Virginia Tech football bi-annually takes over Scott Stadium in Charlottesville vs. UVA. We've rushed the field, taken group pictures and even taken down the goal post. It's easily 75% Hokies in recent years and the Hokies haven't been any good. It gets worse when UVA is bad and VT is good.

For a while, you could buy posters of a panorama view of the crowd.

1982 NCAAT second round Tulsa vs. Houston at ORU (in Tulsa). Arkansas fans were convinced that they would be sent to Tulsa, which is the nearest city to F't'v'l (phonetic) but instead got sent to Dallas.

Hog fans had bought up most of the tickets, and before the Houston-Tulsa game were Calling the Hogs. The Houston pep band had the good sense to play the Arkansas Fight song, to get Razorback fans on the side of Houston.

This was the game where I saw a young freshman for Houston, who was a reserve. At around 6'10 he had cat-like quickness. This was Akeem Olajuwon.

I would bet we took over Dallas, too.

Also for several years now the single-game VT ticket at Scott Stadium requires a $100 donation to the Virginia Athletic Fund, in addition to the ticket cost. I don't think it's ever been 75% hokies, but many years it was over 50% which is why they put the policy in place.

I wonder what would happen if Tennessee fans rushed the field at a Vanderbilt game. Think the SEC office would fine Vanderbilt? 03-lmfao

Could be. The other schools in Dallas were K-State, De Paul, and Boston College.

De Paul had the #1 regional seed (this was a long time ago), but were knocked off by #8 BC. I went to a regional once in Houston with a friend who was a BC alum. I remember at half time he went over and met the other BC fan (singular). K-State would have brought an appreciable number of fans.
