I thought you lived in Central Gardens? And yeah, as bad a rap as Raleigh gets the demographics out there are pretty stable. The median income is right up there with most of the city, the racial numbers are pretty well balanced and home prices are fairly stable. Now, once you get into any of the fringe areas gunshots are not an uncommon sound.

It's not nearly as stable and desirable an area as when we moved there in '69-'70 but it's not nearly as bad as the rest of the city makes it out.

Yeah I guess Bartlett skews it. Raleigh sure doesnt. I still have a relative in 38134 near Covington Pike and Yale. I went to Craigmont and Brownsville Rd and that area is definitely no longer majority white.

yep, honestly I pull out on Bartlett Blvd (I'm right across from Freeman Park) and the whole neighborhood changes by the time you get to Raleigh-Lagrange Rd. (like, not even a mile)

I always thought that Bartlett would eventually go the way of Raleigh but it so far has not. I'd love to understand better why it hasn't but all I can really say is because it's technically not Memphis. Each time I get down that way I'm actually more fond of the city as a whole, though. I couldn't live there again unless a family member needed me to, but I very much do enjoy visiting. There's a superficiality in the middle TN area that I see that Memphis and the surrounding area predominantly dont have. And the food is just better hands down. I miss meat and threes.

Parts of it are getting there. If anything demonstrates the diversity of that area it's the fact that I remember a time when driving through there while black would get you pulled over and harassed. Not so any longer.
