Would like to see some defensive minded athletic players eager to change the culture here through ball pressure, length and rebounding. Should be plenty of those floating around Junior College.

Blessed to receive a D1 Offer from the University of North Carolina Wilmington!
He's already better than Fornes.
Absolutely ridiculous statement.
Ouch..hurtful. Seriously though, it's not even close.

RE: Recruit Updates
The JUCO route isn't a bad way to build a mid major program. Buffalo has built their program with JUCO's. Then, if we can get on track with a winning program it's easier to recruit HS talent as well. We may be forced to take the medicine we need.

Like the direction of our conference... let's not go too far south here.

I agree, I think most of us that understand our weakness and have been around long enough to understand the program definitely like Hawking's thought process on that as well. Going back to at least the early 2000s (and for those around longer than I, even further back), we've seen how high quality defense is successful at the mid major level -- albeit less "exciting".

I can't remember where McGrath said this, but I remember him doing an interview recently after he was hired where he mentioned not having any experience recruiting JUCOs and how he preferred 4 year players. Glad he's adapting, because JUCOs are going to be the key to next seasons success.

In today's world of college basketball jucos and transfers have to be looked at as a regular part of recruitment. I did get a chance to see the Dodd kid play in the NC/SC All Star game at Hoggard. Very impressive looking athlete who went hard the entire time. This game is local and cost $5.00 -great value for fans!

In terms of recruiting HS talent, I do think we are still in a better place than a lot of Mids in terms of regional talent/stability. Playing close to home still has a draw for kids, and NC and surrounding regions (but especially NC) are loaded with talent to draw from. I do believe that will help us retain SOME (certainly not all) of our talent as opposed to other schools that have to extend their recruiting reach much further away from their school's geographic location.

Agree. So many high schools have multiple D1(p5) talents, that the next level kids often get forgotten. Ripe for the pickin for schools like Dub. Boggs is a good example of this exact scenario.

There is kid at New Hanover,Jamir Shaw that could play mid major.6-2 combo guard, super quick, handles well, decent shooter. Not sure about his academic standing but he can play and easily the best player around Wilmington right now.

A two season record of 21-45 is not exactly ringing endorsement.

Lol UNCW never even offered Beeker a scholarship. Not everything has to be a knock on the staff. SMH.
