RE: Recruit Updates
He owns it Hoops and has applicable form. You've played and coached the game and should be able to spot this.

RE: Recruit Updates
I read that the opposition really sold out to stop him from shooting 3's because he was a knock down shooter. And since he doesn't really drive the ball, they could play him tight and not worry about getting beat on the drive.

Good strategy if he can't drive it.

Certainly is, and if we do bring him in (which there’s no indication of yet) hopefully the coaches would work on that weakness so defenses can’t exploit a one dimensional player.

RE: Recruit Updates
Maybe playing in a mid major league rather than a P5 may be better suited for him in terms of driving. Not as many 3/4 star athletic players to drive against.

Ehhhhhh. There’s plenty of strong defenders in the mid majors. Plenty!
Sounds like he just needs to expand his game a little to keep defenders honest.

A shot fake goes a long way sometimes. If we can get another really good shooter that would really help.

Nowhere near as many who are as athletic as guys playing in the PAC-12. You honestly think the talent level between Arizona, Washington is the same across the board in mid major leagues.
He looks like a guy who can thrive in the CAA playing regular minutes. Playing in the PAC-12 his game was limited to strictly 3pt shooting.

RE: Recruit Updates
Skaggs is a floor spacer. Use him to ball screen and pop or sit in the corner. 36% is not amazing but keep in mind he was utility player at Washington State. If he shot 40% everyone would be on him like white 'white on rice'.
If he played here he would be playing minutes and most certainly be more comfortable offensively. Trust me, he is a knock down shooter with a quick left hand release who can also make great passes. Toews will get him the ball. Skaggs 6'5, Sims 6'6, Toews and & Gadsen with a decent center in a 4 out 1 in offense which we are sure to see next season. That's just one example of a lineup that could cause problems for other teams.

Have you heard of any developments in his transfer recruiting process?

RE: Recruit Updates
Here's a couple of updates I could find on Carter Skaggs, for what it's worth.
"Washington State junior transfer Carter Skaggs tells me he has received interest from Pacific, Towson, South Alabama, Drake, UNCG, UNCW, UNC Charlotte, SIUE, MTSU, Montana, Idaho, Winthrop, and UTRGV. In '17-'18, he averaged 8 ppg for the Cougars/shot 42% from three." - Per Ellie Lieberman (@ellieliebs on twitter)

Just read that article, and paid close attention to his responses to the questions and here's what I'm coming up with.
1. He mentioned multiple times he's intent on playing closer to home, since his father just retired from coaching. So... begs the question, where is Carter from? Answer: Indiana. So does UNCW get that done? Not really.
2. He mentioned a bunch of schools who have contacted him... he didn't mention UNCW. Doesn't mean we haven't, but it may have come after this interview. With that, he also mentioned "P5" and "Power Five" numerous times. He mentioned some "good mid majors" but I reckon to think he's more so looking at a lateral move to another P5.

My whole take away from the tweet and the article is that UNCW is definitely in the mix, but i'm not getting ahead of myself thinking he's a lock to come here. I wouldn't look into the "closer to home" comments too much. Technically, UNCW is "closer" to Indiana than Washington State lol and Wilmington would be a good place for his dad to spend some time during the first year of his retirement. I don't think location will end up playing to much into where he goes.

You can really see the across the board size McGrath is going for. 6'5" plus.

I like his size and years of eligibility.
Now... let's hope we get signatures.
