I feel for you guys. I'd be salty too if my team had two of our best players in history graduating this year and yet all we could muster was Pod 2 finish and a CIT bid. Just try to keep Marshall out of the 300 NET area next year or we may have to send you to the Big South Conference.

Was the most boring basketball I've ever seen. How on Earth anyone buys a ticket to see that kind of basketball is beyond me. In that case, we're totally embarrassed that we lost to Marshall. Other than that...

These certain Marshall fans can only live in the world of hypotheticals. If we did this, if we did that. Maybe if Marshall could put up a respectable season they wouldn't have had to play in pod 2. They get a winning streak against the middle of the conference and think they are unbeatable again. Kind of predictable, honestly.

Hopefully Marshall can get there again within the next 30 years. Considering the best they could do was a quarterfinal game with CUSA all time leading scorer and Marshalls all time leading scorer... Yeesh. I wouldn't want to trade places, that's for sure.

Not irrelevant at all. His comments along with at least one other of Marshall's fans are always the same no matter what the topic is ..... i.e., Marshall is great, all their players are great, their next recruiting class is great, ODU is awful, etc. The only difference is how he goes about stating one or more of those thoughts. This time it was about how bad the conference was since everyone but Marshall lost their post season game. Another example, on page two he talks about how ODU was lucky that Marshall got bounced from the tournament to keep them from defeating ODU. You see they defeated ODU on a shot with 3 seconds left in the game back in January so therefore they are obviously unbeatable.

Fact is, ODU more often than not defeats Marshall, and only has a losing record against one team - MTSU (congrats to them) - since joining CUSA. That is relevant to him. Also, he was 100% wrong in stating that ODU was a team that "can't win tourney games". ODU just won the CUSA tourney - which incidentally Marshall was also in but couldn't win this year in spite of their spectacular style of play, stellar coach, best players, John Elmore, best recruits, etc.. I challenged him to show Marshall's results over the same period against the same competition.

I'm sticking with 2003.

Planters Bowl / Middle Tennessee. All-sports rivalry that MT currently leads the tally on, but we got on the board this year in MBB. Trophy is a one foot tall golden Mr. Peanut statue. Only reason it isn't more famous is because it doesn't exist yet.

UTEP has to be better next year. Here is what we have coming back and what we have coming in.
Efe Odigie 12.7 pts, 10.1 reb
Jordan Lathon 10.9 pts, 5 reb.
Nigel Hawkins 12.6 pts, 4.5 reb.
Kaosi Ezeagu 3.2 pts, 3.4 reb
The rest of the guys that played were walkons and/or are not coming back.
The new guys
Tydus Verhoeven transfer from Duquesne, led the A-10 in blocked shots as a freshman
Souley Boum- transfer from San Francisco, averaged 10.9 coming off the bench
Bryson Williams- transfer from Fresno St., averaged 14 pts and 6.1 rebounds, was 3rd team all MWC
Anthony Tarke- transfer from NJIT, averaged 15.7 pts and 6.2 rebounds, first team Atlantic Sun
Deon Stroud- freshman that was a 3* recruit, averaged 20.5 points and 10 rebounds in high school
Kaden Archie- transfer from TCU, 4* recruit that was rated #89 nationally.
All of those guys were on campus last year and practiced with the team except for Stroud who did not get cleared by the NCAA.
New Recruits are:
Jesse Zarzuela #31 in Texas and the #60 point guard
Eric Vila #55 rated JUCO recruit.

UTEP has one scholarship remaining and word is that it will go to a big name graduate transfer.
