I like your optimism. In the College Station context, I'm reminded of a post-game interview after an NCAA regional game in the old Summit. aTm had just beaten North Carolina, which was considered something of an upset. Shelby Metcalf was asked, "Did you really expect to be here?" He replied, "Well I packed a change of underwear, if that tells you anything."

One of Marquette's all-conference performers (Davenport, their best inside girl) is out for the year with a knee injury suffered on Feb. 22nd. They still have some weapons besides her, but they are a heavy guard-laden team, and shoot a LOT of 3-pointers.

I hope that the athletic department will do something to try to get students there if we make it to the second round

In working with the NCAA to prepare for tonight’s Women’s Selection Special we received the bracket, similar to years past. In the midst of our preparation, the bracket was mistakenly posted on ESPNU. We deeply regret the error and extend our apology to the NCAA and the women’s basketball community. We will conduct a thorough review of our process to ensure it doesn’t happen in the future. We will now broadcast the full bracket at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN2, and the regularly-scheduled show on ESPN at 7 p.m.

About as much of an apology as we got from CUSA over the El Paso clock fiasco.

We can only control what we can control. Bring it.

Rice is #31. That is not something they can control right now.

I think Ant meant this week's poll ranking, not RPI.

If it were on the men’s side I would agree but the women need ESPN to be able to air every game...not like they can expect someone to bid against them.

Notes on #Marquette:

They have four guards averaging over 11 points per game, but their top scoring and rebounding forward went down with an injury last month.

The Golden Eagles' top shot blocker is a 5'8" guard, who had 18 blocks on the season

They're a very small team

They average 82.9 points a game (4th in NCAA). Our defense gives up only 52.8 (6th in NCAA).

Marquette was hot in January and February, but they stumbled a bit after losing Davenport. Getting them in Texas is really good for us.

If we can beat Marquette, we will likely get a chance to prove we can beat A&M with Mulkey. I don't like the seed itself, but all in all, the committee was pretty decent to us.

I agree. We have a familiarity with Reed Arena having played there the last two years.

Yup. We arent playing a 1 seed - they are good, but so are we. These are the moments that start changing the perception of a program.

Also rats, I'll be in flight to the other side of the planet, so no hope of seeing them play.

FYI ... At the end of the early-reveal show, the ESPN2 anchor said there would be a "new" selection show at the intended time ... 6 p.m. Central.

Going by the AP poll, we are a #21 playing a #18 first round and then presumably #14 A&M in the 2nd round and playing in Texas. We could make the Sweet 16 without having to beat a top 10 team! I like our chances and am super excited! And I am sure the team wouldn't mind some payback for the earlier loss to A&M!

They may as well do us all a favor and tell us now who won the NCAA title. It will make filling out my brackets easier.
