I've been harsh on Caver, but he really stepped up last night. We don't win this game without it. Nice adjustment by JJ with the 3-2 zone as well. I didn't expect us to win that game, so its a really good win to me.

One thing this team has that we haven't seen in a while is resiliency. That bodes well for a conference tournament.

We also seem to have a decent amount of depth that is getting better by the game. That also bodes well for a Conf Tourney.

To me, Xavier Green is the key. He is far too inconsistent. He needs to play more aggressively and shoot with more confidence. He has to be a reliable third or fourth scorer. Then, we will be consistently good.

I think they have come back seven times from deficits of 10 or more pts. to post victories.

The offense put up a sneaky good performance...1.19 ppp against a decent defensive team. I'm assume that was probably the best offensive performance we've put up this year. Not many teams are beating us if we score 1.10 ppp or higher. Shot well and only had 5 turnovers.

Carver, Dickens, and Stith had pretty good games, but Caver carried the team. Making a strong case for CPOY.

You are going to have to hit 3s over the course of 40 mins to beat us.

Caver also only played what I assume is a season low 32 minutes last night

He had a couple lower....LT, Kennesaw State. Did he have foul trouble early? I missed the start.

Yeah, UAB has fans and a proud history too. CUSA sucks the life out of teams. I would have thought this would have had a lot of buzz down there considering the long term rivalry these two teams have and that we're in first place.

Do people just not care about UAB basketball down there? They were in the tournament recently and have a winning record, and only two close home losses this year. Their arena is a good size and I'm sure a good enough crowd would make that place even harder to play in than it already is. It drives me nuts seeing schools with good programs and terrible turnout. Last night was awful

I think they are set up like ODU. The Cameras don't show the side where all the fans are. Like ours...most of the corporate seats where most of the time people don't show up are across from the cameras.

Not that I'm trying to argue, but the box score had an attendance of 3,276. That's pretty bad. I thought UAB had more support than that.

If I could kindly interject from a UAB perspective.
Most fans (75%+) were not excited when Rob was hired. Rob is a good guy and a good ASSISTANT coach with a good pedigree so we were hopeful but the nightmare that most fans thought would happen is happening. We were hoping he would come around but he is not. And since most fans were not really into the hire in the first place you are seeing them take it out on attendance. Our attendance has historically not been great over the last decade but this is getting bad now.

Congrats on the W last night. We were out coached in that second half by a mile!

I appreciate that perspective a lot. I hope you guys get it figured out, you are a great conference mate. Do you think your AD will try to hire someone else this offseason?

They represent the different countries our players are from. We have several players from different parts of the world.

Unless we go completely belly up and loose all the players we have to transfer....no I don't think a change will be made. Rob will get another year. Now if he does get another year you can bet the leash will be awfully short. Then again our AD has been very outspoken about wanting ALL sports to compete for championships and has made a lot of coaching changes the last few years so its hard to say.

Thats cool. A really easy way to make an impression on those kids.

I wish we recruited more overseas players. I'm not the one who in charge of the recruiting budget though.

The big kid Geuye (Spell) could be a very good player or a huge head case. When he and another player when up for a rebound and they knocked it out of each other's hands out of bounds. He acted like a spoiled little baby whose lollipop was taken away. Went back over to the other UAB player not once, not twice, but three times talking to him. And the facial expressions were not those of a teammate who understands crap happens. If he doesn't grow up he will be a liability when the pressure is really on.

I noted that myself during the game. I was like, yikes, he's all bent out of shape over that.
