Was dozing off but thought I heard them say 12-2 all time. Very impressive and congrats on the win.

Yeah, I suppose they were monitoring the board, since they said it right after I posted. 03-wink

No one better among those who've played in more than a handful of bowl games... .857 W/L%... Pennington and Moss lost our first one to Ole Miss, unfortunately, and then Bobby Pruett's last team laid an egg vs. Cincinnati in Fort Worth years ago.

School of Hard Knox. We'd have never seen this guy if three backs weren't injured. He's amazing.

He is pretty good. Not as good as King but still a good running back.

King is more explosive, I agree. But Knox is better at getting a few power yards if the crease isn't there. He's like an Anderson-King hybrid. Or a bit meatier, quicker on the cut Davis. I was very impressed with Davis' last run. He looked back to 100%. And faster.

We are actually 12-3 all time. They always seem to forget the 1948 Tangerine Bowl (now called Citrus Bowl). An interesting note about that bowl game, The football coach Cam Henderson was also the basketball coach and he was with the basketball team in California instead of at the football game in Orlando along with a couple of players.

In NCAA sanctioned bowl games Marshall is 12-2. Until 1972 bowl games were not run by or sanctioned by the NCAA.

The 1948 Tangerine Bowl game was Catawaba 7 Marshall 0. Cam Henderson who was the football and basketball coach was busy in Kansas City winning the NAIB (NAIA now) national championship.

True, but back then the Tangerine Bowl pitted small college teams against each other.

Since Marshall became a university in the 60s, and since we've begun playing D1 football in the 90s, we're 12-2.

We are technically 12-3, but our first bowl was in 1947 against Catawba and many sports pundits don’t factor that in as it is not part of the “modern bowl era”, but since someone inquired, here’s our history:

1947: Catawba - Tangerine - 0-7 L
1997: Ole Miss - Motor City - 31-34 L
1998: Louisville - Motor City - 48-29 W
1999: #25 BYU - Motor City - 21-3 W
2000: Cincinnati - Motor City - 25-19 W
2001: East Carolina - GMAC - 64-61 (3OT) W
2002: Louisville - GMAC - 38-15 W
2004: Cincinnati - Ft. Worth Bowl - 14-32 L
2009: Ohio - Little Caesar’s Pizza - 21-17 W
2011: FIU - Beef O’Brady’s - 20-10 W
2013: Maryland - Military - 31-10 W
2014: #25 NIU - Boca Raton - 52-23 W
2015: UCONN - St. Petersburg - 16-10 W
2017: Colorado St. - New Mexico - 31-28 W
2018: South Florida - Gasparilla - 38-20 W

King is more Dorsett in how he runs, while Knox is more Payton.

USF tanked out the rest of the season. I did pick Marshall to win. I wonder if Strong will be on the hot seat with USF fans the way their season came to an end.

Props to Marshall for handling their business.

Knox reminds me of Earl Charles

I think Knox is smoother than Charles, and slightly taller, not so stocky as Charles.... I'll stick with Payton.

That wasn't an ncaa sanctioned game at the time. So it doesn't really count.

Just looked it up:

Earl Charles 6'1 215
Brenden Knox 6'0 209

Almost exactly the same frame.

Sorry, Zoned... I read "Earl," but my brain said "Jamaal," former Chiefs star RB.

OK, yeah Jamaal was 5'11 189 while at Texas. And mainly played at 190-195 in KC.

Speaking of players build, I bought some cards at a garage sale and there were 6’0 205 defensive ends playing in the NFL in the 1960’s. Several 5’11 185 playing at multiple positions. No comparison to the physical development of players now a days

Wait till they start tweaking genes to make football players in a petri dish and whoever has the best science department has the best football team.
