I said "I hope".
I hope the Owls get the win as well. Even though ODU played VMI those dudes hung 77 on em. Just don't see our defense being able to hold them down enough. Not that our defense isn't playing light years ahead of where they were the last few years, but when the offensive offense can't sustain a drive of more than 3 plays at a time those guys on D get tired.

Does anyone know the status on Marshman? Is he ok?
IMO best chance would be to go with Tyner. Heck at this point he deserves a chance. He maybe rusty, almost threw a pic at LSU. I think Wiley needs a Spring camp, Marshman has not traveled so he must be out. Whoever is back there hope they get a sense of urgency, it would be great to see play action fake and quick release. QB run play when WR not open but not just running to the sideline, a roll out hitting a TE, ball thrown down field early in the game. Go OWLS!
Agree hank, but I’ll bet my entire Star Wars collection Green gets the start and goes the distance.
I’m just curious how many guys will be on the roster returning from the soph and junior classes.
Wiley needs a recharge. Prudy said you need confidence to make the plays. #5 had a rough outing, sticking to the game plan. If they wont give Tyner the nod then just go with SS, end the season and regroup.
Not sure who will come back but the young guys show a lot of promise. the juniors are the ones at risk but will they just stop playing or transfer. if transfer where do they go? Tough to leave a institution like RICE
I think we have good coaches, they just have to make adjustments.. Another year in the weight room, buy into the program and frankly a change of luck. Nothing went our way this season...snake bit

Rice was fortunate to eke out a 3-point win, at home, against a poor FCS team (Prairie View).

Little talent + poor, unimaginative coaching = (1-11)

The team had no chance to win any other game.
Not that any of them were tossups, but, fact check:
We had possession in the final quarter of five games down one score. (Of those, we came back to win one).
Espn FPI gave us a ~60% chance in UH game at one point in the third quarter.
Snake bit is overdramating somewhat, but we definitely had some real chances to win real games against a lot of regarded teams this season.
Just didn’t get it done.

Good coaches fit square pegs into square holes. Otherwise, i am in agreement .
A change of luck? Some here, not me, would argue that there is no luck involved.

Snake bit is a joke.
Lack of talent in a couple of key positions (QB and OL being most obvious) is a decent enough excuse. But the coaching staff didn't do much to inspire confidence, regardless of how bare the cupboard was.
At this point, any Rice fan that isn't at least a bit skeptical of the quality of the staff (outside of the special teams coach) is delusional. But if they can somehow start next year off on the right foot, I imagine that a lot of people will be more than willing and happy to throw the entire weight of their support behind the coaching staff and team.

Interesting that you just flat out admit a gross difference in your standards between regimes. At no point were we even remotely close to 12-0 in the 40 years, let alone the last decade.
Cool. Just reaffirmed the agenda being peddled.

On your comment I too watched the press conference. I was ready to jump all over your comment on how you might have misheard that. But, I have to agree. I absolutely cringed when I heard him diss pretty much everyone but the seniors and freshmen for their attitude on getting over the hump.
Wife called me in that dinner was ready as that comment ended (heh.... Chinese delivery, we are quite the chefs tonite...) so I still need to finish watching.
But that comment did make me seriously wince.

I remember one with those guys that did. A long time ago. And we missed a field goal on the last play. Of course, it was a 60-yard attempt.

What's controversial? It's true. We've all watched the last few years. A losing mentality is tough to break. Ask anyone who has been a part of a turnaround.

Chinese delivery doesn’t sound so bad. I know most of what is said is “coach speak” but this isn’t the first time Bloom has showed his true feelings. A few weeks ago thought the dude was ready to jump off the top of the Patterson center and now we should feel sorry for him because the majority of the team is made up of losers. Karma is ***** and she always gets hers. This potential 1-12 season isn’t karma coming around. It’ll come when he least expects it.

No controversy is just a &@ck move. When he talks about the middle classes he’s also lumping in his clone model Trammel who in no way personifies a “loser” attitude. Roe Wilkins, Zach Abercrombie, Aaron Cephus, Myles Adams, Nashone Ellerbe, Emmanuel Esupka, Dylon Sylcox....I don’t believe any of those guys fit that mindset Bloom is referring to but he likes to use blanket statements to cast out the guys that aren’t his. How about, “In those middle classes we have some guys that have really bought in and are working hard and we have a few that it’s going to take a little more work to get there on board.” Says the same thing without casting a shadow over every player. Is what it is chalk it up to rookie head coach not well versed is coach speak yet.
