However, by judging this topic and more, since last Saturday's game it appears the top spot for the most egotistical fanbase is switching from stAte to southern ... I guess App, Troy, and others have some work to do to cut it off at the head.

I wouldn’t be surprised if App won big in this game. I don’t think stAte is as good as they have been in recent years and App looks to be the class of the conference thus far. However, being in Jonesboro and having Justice Hansen will keep the red wolves in it.

Given general apathy right now. We'll be lucky to get 15K.

Less than 15K. A lot of people have soured on Anderson and a midweek game with a late start means the central Arkansas folks won’t be able to make it. People there with small children will leave at halftime.

Busted play? Hardly... That was a designed play with the RB running a route down the sideline. The AR St LB who had the coverage there got caught looking into the backfield and the RB ran right by him. No bust there except poor pass coverage by the LB.

Lol...No...busted play on us. Find someone to explain football to you ok.

I think you mean Busted Coverage. A Busted play implies the play worked by mistake. They designed it that way, we just failed to cover it like we were supposed to.

I know I’m not supposed to be over here but I just wanted to say I think Appy State is the best non P-5 team in the country.

I’m still a little surprised nobody has snatched up their coach yet. If they continue playing at the level they’ve played at so far this year I think someone will have to throw some money his way.

And please Appy State fans, don’t bombard me with “our situation is different”. They all go. All. I’m never mad about it. It’s the smart move. If UNICEF gets in the college football business maybe one will stay.

But kudos to Appy State. Ya’ll are rolling. Very impressive to me anyway.

But knowing Arky State, they could pull this one out their culo. I wasn’t over here preseason. Does Semenhole Injun still proclaim better talent that lower SEC teams?

Lol. Busted coverage. Guy got whipped one on one in man coverage. 99 percent of football fans don’t know football at all. The amount of piped-in excuses are extraordinary. “We turned it over... we dropped a pass..., we missed a FG..., busted coverage, etc.”

I want to start using real world excuses. “If our left guard didn’t let the DT get past him..., if our QB would have added one mph to the pass that was incomplete..., if our LB read run instead of pass, if our punter would have kicked it 50 yards instead of 48...”.

Oh yes, he certainly blew past the linebacker. I'm just not sure the linebacker in question was also out of position...hence the blown coverage comment.

We won't and it'll be a bad one.

Ouch. We were pretty bad for a lot of 2016 (lucky that the conference was bad and we dodged App that year), and not that great in 2017 either. Hansen will help a lot if he can run without getting hurt and if constantly throwing screen passes will carry us to victory somehow.

Coming into the season, I was looking forward to this game. After the Southern game and the piss poor game plan/play calling/mistake playing we had, I would rather the game be cancelled. Make no mistake, we have the ability to spank App's behind by a margin of up to two TD's. But given our coaching staff, I do not beleive we will be prepared nor have the game plan to beat the mountain folks. If we play this game as we did at Southern, we will get our ass beat by at least 14 points. The talent is pretty close and I would give us an edge here but we have a botton tier coach going up against the best coach in the SBC. We are in trouble.

I do not subscribe to the belief that Ark State has more talent than App. Not in 2018. But what do I know? I’ve only watched every App game all season. I’m sure the stAte fans have a better scouting report.

If you watch the replay, it looks like the WR ran a rub to slow the LB so Fields could get a step. 53:49 in the video below.

(09-30-2018 10:35 AM)EigenEagle Wrote:  Also (and I might take heat for this), but GS's defense might very well be better than App State's. Our scoring defense is only a couple of points higher than App and we've probably faced better offenses across the board. People will bring up UMass but they scored more on UNCC than App State and more on Ohio than Cincinnati. Our senior DE Logan is first-team all-SBC and the DE opposite him was a true freshman last year and put on some weight and might be even better than Hunt, and our pair of corners are at least as good as App's.

Really hard to make that determination at this point. How App fares against Ark State and how GS fares against South Alabama will be much more telling. Looking at blowout games where rarely used reserves were getting significant reps throughout the second half doesn't tell us much other than that UMass and UNCC are both bad football teams.

Georgia Southern's defense is definitely good. Even going back to the second half of last season, I thought they played well and as anyone who follows App will tell you, they have since added a hell of a coach in Scot Sloan. However, I disagree that any pair of corners in the Sun Belt are "at least as good" as Duck and Hayes, who were first and second team All-Conference last year and looking just as sharp this season.

At this point, I'd say it's a three-team race in the East with App the slight favorite. A much improved GS getting both Troy and App in Statesboro makes things very interesting though.

The way the West looks, hard to see anybody but Ark State in the championship game regardless of what happens next Tuesday.

I have to tip my cap to him. He trolled opposing fan bases and the Arky State fan base at the same time. He had to be popping internet boners like a guy eating viagra like skittles.

Is he in with the Hawg fans or does he piss them off too.

I would have preferred the Wolves had beaten GS prior to the upcoming game against App. Tuesday night game on the road against what should be a pissed off and motivated team with lots of talent. Hanson's mobility could be an issue as App sometimes has a tendency to overrun the QB on the pass rush and leave gaps for Hanson to run. Here's hoping the Apps take care of business on the road.

Refreshing to see someone (anyone) here admit that they erred, even though it was pretty much just semantics.
