I want to start using real world excuses. “If our left guard didn’t let the DT get past him..., if our QB would have added one mph to the pass that was incomplete..., if our LB read run instead of pass, if our punter would have kicked it 50 yards instead of 48...”.
Oh yes, he certainly blew past the linebacker. I'm just not sure the linebacker in question was also out of position...hence the blown coverage comment.
If you watch the replay, it looks like the WR ran a rub to slow the LB so Fields could get a step. 53:49 in the video below.
I concur. You illegally chop block our starting safety to get him out of the game. Then you run an illegal rub route while hes on the sidelines the next play. Someone should petition the NCAA to change the results of the game to a W for us. Dirty GS.

I know, right? How uppity are we to think we're the third or fourth-best SBC team?
Blake Anderson has a 26-7 record against the Sun Belt, and Ark State returns 7 starters and one of the top QBs in the country on the top-scoring SBC offense from last year, and on top of that Ark State has a winning non-conference record for the first time in forever, but all of that goes away because stAte basically finally had to play a non-Tyson-Summers-coached GS team and lost a game on the road some models had them as an underdog. All I'm really doing is sticking up for my team.

I’m still a little surprised nobody has snatched up their coach yet. If they continue playing at the level they’ve played at so far this year I think someone will have to throw some money his way.
And please Appy State fans, don’t bombard me with “our situation is different”. They all go. All. I’m never mad about it. It’s the smart move. If UNICEF gets in the college football business maybe one will stay.
But kudos to Appy State. Ya’ll are rolling. Very impressive to me anyway.
But knowing Arky State, they could pull this one out their culo. I wasn’t over here preseason. Does Semenhole Injun still proclaim better talent that lower SEC teams?
He hangs out on razorback boards and does it now...but yes he's still at it.
I have to tip my cap to him. He trolled opposing fan bases and the Arky State fan base at the same time. He had to be popping internet boners like a guy eating viagra like skittles.
Is he in with the Hawg fans or does he piss them off too.
He's an um...moderator over there. Finally found a group of people who take him seriously...

Not sure if you’re trolling, but the player who got hurt was not the recipient of the cut block (which wasn’t dirty btw, just newly illegal this year).
I watched the replay frame by frame and still can’t figure out how he got hurt.

I think he got hurt tripping over our player that was cut blocked. My post was sarcasm.
RE: Finally: App State at Arkansas State on Tuesday, Oct 9
Also everyone complaining about the play choices of stAte....did you ever stop to think that our defensive coverage dictated where your plays went?
You finally got the route you were looking for late in the game that had been getting set up all night when Hansen looked off the screen and attacked the middle of the field. The problem was our LB covering deep middle recognized the play and held it to 11 yards instead of a busted coverage leading to a TD.
You had to throw short all game because that's all we gave you. That's what we wanted you to do. Your run game was also not consistent enough for us to have to worry about.
Your defense also likes to overpursue and "cheat" what they see presnap, which is why the reverse got you so bad. Also, because you have to play us a certain way, you end up in a bunch of man coverage, especially outside. The wheel route or deep seam routes on late releasing slots is typically how an option team burns you, and we had you burned on 2 of them, it was just a bad throw on the first one.
We are not what we once were, but there was nothing that stAte just handed to us. We finally have a competent/sound offensive scheme and an improved defense to go with it. This is not a Tyson Summers soft ass team anymore.
All that said, I'm not sure that App's corners are as good together as Vildor/Brinson, but they are no slouches. I'd expect to see a lot of the same defensively from them otherwise though. It's going to come down to how stAte defends App I believe that makes the big difference in the game.
RE: Finally: App State at Arkansas State on Tuesday, Oct 9
I'll start this by saying I was really impressed with Brinson both on Saturday and in previous GS games I've watched, but, there's no way Georgia Southerns CBs are better than Duck and Hayes at App...

Ok
Anyways
I think ArkSt improves a lot during the bye week but not enough intime.
28-17 Appholes. Who knows though ArkSt maybe just match up better with a more pass friendly team than a run heavy one.

We are 3 rushing yards behind you for the season. Think I read where y’all are at 1081 and we have 1078.
RE: Finally: App State at Arkansas State on Tuesday, Oct 9
This comes down to which dline and LBs get more pressure.
We’re looking at two of the top three QBs in the SBC in this one. One is young and may react like a first time starter, he made a couple bad throws last week. I actually think Satt put him in a tough situation to give him a chance to make a mistake vs USA to keep him focused.
RE: Finally: App State at Arkansas State on Tuesday, Oct 9
Blake Anderson all-but outed himself as the coach who anonymously said "They don’t do a lot on offense, but it works," in the anonymous comments article, cause he repeated it in the teleconference.
RE: Finally: App State at Arkansas State on Tuesday, Oct 9
If what you have works, why complicate it? That's what Mahlzon did when he was here. Nothing fancy. Same set most of the time with a few variances. He'd find what worked and run it until they adjusted. Then he'd do something else. I'd take that as a compliment.

No... because we've run the exact same offense all year and it's been inefficient all year.
Your coverage was great, but there were still plenty of openings throughout the night that we didn't take advantage of. Instead we threw short screens or tried to force a pass up the sideline into one of your best DBs.
