But compared to nothing, it is a lot of money for UC and Clifton restaurants. Changing the integrity of the stadium with the notches is not a rationale argument. Nippert looks nothing like it did circa 1991 when I went to school. Anyway, nothing for any of us to get the blood pressure up.
The purists feel that Nippert should lay dormant for everything except FB. It should never be used for anything else...even in the off-season.
I think it actually hurts their pride that the AD needs the $$ and that FB is not the cash cow they envision. They believe UC should be an NC contender when they have nowhere near the personnel or tradition to even approach that level. They are honestly shocked when the team comes up snake-eyes against poor competition.
Believe me.
I want Nip to earn more money, just did not want it permanently altered. Would be in favor of outdoor concerts, HS football, and even kickball if not altered.
The Nip has been permanently altered many times over the last 15 years without comment from the purists. Only when the notches came in did we hear protest...this leads me to believe that the opposition is to soccer, and not the fact that the facility is being altered.
I personally don't mind that a soccer team used our stadium.
I don't care that they removed a few seats that were lousy seats anyway.
I do like that they paid us a lot of money to use it and even made some improvements.
But I will grant you this...
I DO hate soccer. It's the stupidest game ever created.
Its a good game for small kids to play because it doesn't require a lot of skill or brainpower. By HS, 95% of kids have lost interest.
Europeans are crazy about it... which should send up red flags everywhere.
Soccer fans mess themselves over 90 minutes of a 0-0 game. Then they insist that Americans accept it like we do football. If you don't like it, they get in your face and act like you're some sort of a Neanderthal.
Even at the highest level, panzy-like faking of injuries is encouraged in hopes of getting the referee to decide the game instead of just being better than the other team.
Yeah, I hate soccer. GOD BLESS AMERICA !!!!
