Nice work, Hoplites. Now kindly lose game 3 so we have a shot at finishing second place and the third seed.

RE: Baseball final weekend
Eagles lead the Panthers 12-4 in the 8th. Barring a miracle comeback, that will clinch tournament berths for AState and UTA (UTA sort of backed in to the spot) It would leave GSU and ULM to play off for the last spot on Sunday. ULM would have a half game lead, so GSU would need to win and have ULM lose their 25th consecutive game to ULL to put the Panthers in the tournament.
3-5 seeds are messy, but the gist is that if Troy wins against USA Saturday, the Trojans would be the 3 seed, and USA/GS would be the 4-5 seeds and have the glorious task of beating Coastal Carolina twice to get to the Finals.
6-7 seeds are also up for grabs. With today's TXST win and Little Rock loss, the Bobcats passed the Trojans into 6th and the last bye into the double elimination portion. However if TXST was to lose Saturday and LR win, the Trojans would retake the spot. There is a gigantic difference between 6 and 7. 6 goes straight to double elimination and faces Troy/USA/GS. 7 has to play Tuesday in a winner take all qualifying game against AState/GSU/ULM/UTA just to reach the DE portion, and IF they get that far, they have to beat UL at Tigue Moore Field, WITH Colton Schmidt on the mound. That's not exactly ideal.

RE: Baseball final weekend
Georgia State seems ready to call it a season.
They have walked 10, had 7 wild pitches, a balk, and hit 4 batters.
We have 11 hits, have stranded 13 guys on base, but still have 12 runs. That is nuts.
GS has also scored points in 13 of 16 innings so far.

I am feverishly figuring out App's one SBC Tournament scenario while following the live stats on this one.
I'm also trying to research league rules in terms of how many games they can actually play in Boone tomorrow.

RE: Baseball final weekend
Eagles win 12-7.
Scenarios, Scenarios, Scenarios:
First things first: There are a lot of questions with the Coastal/App series. I do not believe they can play 3 games since they have yet to complete a game in two days. So, all scenarios below are based on App/CCU only completing two games. IF THEY ONLY PLAY 1 GAME, APP IS ELIMINATED FROM THE TOURNAMENT RACE.
Seeds:
1 seed: Coastal Carolina.
2 seed: Louisiana (Note: Cajuns are guaranteed two seed as West Champs, despite inferior record to Troy/GS/USA currently)
3 seed: South is eliminated from contention for the 3 seed. (Cannot catch Troy) Troy will be the 3 seed with a win OR a GS Loss. GS Will be the 3 seed with a win AND a Troy loss
4 seed: Really, we're splitting hairs. Only difference between 4 and 5 is who is the home team when the two play on Wednesday. GS Can finish no worse than 4th with a win. USA could finish 4th with a win and GS Loss. If USA wins and GS Wins, Troy finishes 4th.
5 seed: Again, splitting hairs: Most likely USA. Cannot be Troy. GS Would drop to this spot with a loss and USA win on Saturday.
6 seed: Texas State will earn the last bye to the Double Elimination portion of the tournament with a win over UTA OR A Little Rock loss to Arkansas State. Little Rock leapfrogs with a win and TXST loss
7 seed: Whoever does not get the 6 seed out of LR/Texas State will be the 7 seed and play a Single elimination game on Tuesday:
8 seed: 8/9 is similar spot to 4/5 We know those two will play each other in a single elimination game Tuesday. The 8 seed is for the right to be the "home team" UTA will be the 8 seed with a Win OR an AState loss. AState will be the 8 seed with a Win AND A UTA Loss. ULM Cannot finish as the 8 seed because they lose all tiebreakers involving UTA.
9 seed: AState is the 9 seed with a Win AND A UTA Win. UTA is the 9 seed with a Loss AND An AState win. ULM is the 9 seed with a Win and an AState loss. (Warhawks own tiebreak with Red Wolves)
10 seed: Note: AState can finish no worse than 10th, so they have clinched a tourney spot for the 9th straight season
AState: With a loss and ULM win Saturday
ULM: With a Win AND an AState win, OR a loss AND a Georgia State loss AND App State losing one game Saturday
GSU: With a Win AND A ULM Loss Saturday. Panthers are eliminated with a loss
App: With a comeback win in game 1 over CCU AND a Win in a 2nd game that Must be played. PLUS losses by BOTH GSU and ULM. Any single loss by App to CCU eliminates the App's

So...we're not dead yet.
If App comes back and beats Coastal in game one and then wins game two, App will be 10-19. Game three lost to the cosmos.
If G-State loses, they'll finish 9-20. If Monroe loses, they'll be 10-19. App has tiebreaker over ULM.
Action starts at High Noon from Lake Boone.

You need a miracle, but perhaps Coastal's players all ate rotten shellfish overnight and come down with food poisoning. Who knows?

Also, if Southern and South both win, GS will have the second-best record in the conference playing every team except for ULM.
The Cajuns will have "earned" the second seed while skipping South Alabama as a conference game.
What a stupid system.

The conference went with a divisional format. To save effort just cut and paste that somewhere for football because eventually the conference title game in football is going to put the team with the third best league record in the title game.

The problem is potentially the Cajuns having the fifth-best conference record while getting to face one of the "wild card" teams with their #2 pitchers. That doesn't apply to football.
We just need to go back to the 8-team format. The 9th and 10th place teams just shouldn't be in the tournament. That's ridiculous.

The only way the format is going to change is if weather becomes such an issue that it's impossible to continue with. The coaches are the ones who vote on the tourney format, and they wanted 10 teams. This is basically the only way to get 10 teams.
I think your main issue is with the Divisional concept granting a 2 seed to a champion of a weaker division.

Well, you're right, it's just that with 10 teams you have to have a "play-in" round and giving that advantage to the top 2 seeds just amplifies that mistake.
I mean, in the basketball schedule we didn't have a balanced schedule because we didn't play one pair of cross-divisional teams more than once, but we still don't guarantee a top-2 seed to the top team of each division.

Basketball doesn't have divisions, though it appears they are heading back that direction.
The solution is likely to just ignore Division when handing out seed.

Coastal wins the suspended game against App 10-4. App is the first team eliminated from the conference tournament race. The two team's will play a 2nd game today that is meaningless to everything but Coastal's RPI to close out their regular seasons.

The chants are men and the beers are boys today lol. Lancaster has 3 home runs in the second game alone. Coastal leads 10-1 top 8th still. No word on whether or not a 3rd game will be played tomorrow.
