In 2020, Millenials will replace boomers as the largest voting block in this country, and they overwhelmingly vote democratic. While Alabama is sure to remain red, many of the millennials who participated and voted in this election will find their home in the Democratic Party.
The big problem is that republicans don’t have a coherent set of principles to run on. So they open themselves up to getting tarred and feathered by everything that comes along. How hard is it to provide a better alternative when the other side is bent on pursuing divisive identity politics and a collectivist economic policy that gave us Venezuela and the Soviet Union? Can republicans really do no better? Or are they going to continue to stand for nothing, so they fall for anything, including Roy Moore?
I’ve laid out several times an agenda that I would support. First party to go there gets my vote. Newt’s Contract was the best thing republicans ever did. And it led to their biggest electoral victory ever. So why don’t they do that now?
Identitity politics is not the strategy of one party. Quite frankly, "identity" and branding are at the core of every political party.
And it could just as easily be said that the class divide propagated by Republican tax policy and corporate cronyism is hell bent on giving us a repeat of 1929... which is a hell of a lot closer to becoming reality in this country than some sort of McCarthy-contrived collectivist, communist-style collapse.
hands down.................the dumbest ******* thing I've ever read on this board........

The assault ones will because those were lies.
The 16 and 17 year olds were irrelevant.
The 14 year old was probably true, but nobody will listen to her any more. She's been used by the left for their purposes. They will now dispose of her.

Probably a quarter to never. The people who pushed her into the spotlight probably won't help anymore. The people at the top generally don't intend to punish each other, just embarrass the other party. This was all just for the public spectacle. Although I will say that woman looks like she needs some help or closure.

I'd buy that except for Moore has shot himself in the foot twice before. Sheeple and idiots would be a legitimate claim if it was just the female allegation hype. Moore should never have been the nominee, but then again neither should have Luther Strange.

Good question, who the hell should have been the nominee?
Another question, Doug Jones seems by all accounts to be a decent person. But he had no chance against a wacko until these allegations came up. Given that, who in his right mind would want to be a candidate? And why?

Jones is about as extreme as you can get on abortion. I haven't seen the numbers, but he was probably owned by Planned Parenthood as was Ossoff in GA-6.

Putting on my conspiracy theory hat...
Trump graciously offers Doug Jones his congratulations: but I remain intrigued by his "very short period of time" qualifier. Every now and then he tweets plain, matter of fact statements that appear fantastical but no so with the benefit of hindsight. Is this one of them?
Maybe this was a voter fraud sting op? It would be genius and Moore never conceded and the order not to keep digital records is suspicous.

The GOP is experiencing the last gasps of the traditional "values voter." They're going to have to change their game entirely if they want to remain relevant in the years to come as millennials start outnumbering everyone else.
Hillary tried to run on "values" and "identity" and "environmental virtue signaling" and lost.
As Carville said, "its the economy stupid." That is what Trump ran on. The Democrats were just too arrogant and stupid to realize it. Many of them still haven't realized it.
Bingo! And how did Carville succeed? The right was running on the Moral Majority. National elections are almost always about the economy. I'm all for morality, but whose interpretation of it gets pretty murky and Americans just don't want to go there so they vote their pocketbooks. Carter took a moral stance and Reagan blew him out of the water. I think the oddball was Kennedy who actually won by selling a long term vision of a vital America, but then economic stagnation was the rule of the day in 1960, so the vision was really still about the economy.

Alabama is going through a purge. Everybody is getting replaced. Probably a few more months before a new crop of candidates emerge. Although I think there is an old name coming back to try and get the attorney general role I think. Can't remember the name off the top of my head. Seems we love to recycle candidates down here.

2018 will be interesting election year... my guess is that every republican running will have sexual harassment accusers that come out. It may be the new Democrat tactic since they can't win on their non-existent platform and/or calling everyone a "racist" doesn't work anymore.
Well, since we know that the Demons are the party of "immorality" I'm sure we can play the same game. The Reps need to get dirty with dirty.

Yeah. And watch. As soon as tomorrow hits, all of the women who accused Moore of sexual assault will never be heard from again since they "did their job" to impugn the man enough to cost him an easily winnable election.

If, a big If, Moore is innocent as he says then he should bring charges against these women. There's nothing like putting the fear of lying then a good lawsuit. Slander has been in the books for a long time.
