I just can't sit by while people are hurting, especially when I didn't take any water, nor did I suffer any damage. My place is fine, my cars are fine, my family is fine.
Son, DIL and grandchild still in their home and no water. (knocking on wood because I don't want to jinx them)
DIL is helping at the local high school that is serving refugees.
While it is hard to see the devastation, seeing all of the people pulling together doing whatever necessary to help out total strangers gives me hope for mankind or at least for Texas.
I helped out a bit tonight filling sand bags. At my mom's retirement community where we evacuated for a day, I helped out some. Unfortunately tomorrow I have to go to work. At least the wife and kids are still off.
I don't know what they are expecting, but they are forcing people out of the Alvin shelter and moving them to Central Texas. They told them if nobody came tonight they would bus them out and gave them one hours notice.
Don't know if they are expecting more problems, more people, have run out of supplies or simply are bureaucrats. My 80+ parents are from military families and so probably don't ask enough questions. So my sister is going to have to drive 180 miles one way (or maybe 300 to find dry roads) to get them instead of waiting a day and driving 5 or 6. Its nuts. My nephew was going to try to get them in the morning. He has a boat and already used it to move my other sister out of a shelter. But he couldn't do it tonight.

CNN have been using local tv reporters to help cover the storm. I believed this reporter is a local Houston tv news reporter because I have never seen her before on CNN. When Atkins and my area had those tornados that hit including Mayflower, Vilonia and other areas that got hit. They used the local channel 7 ABC news reporters out of Little Rock to cover the devastation in the area.

It's too early. No, now it's too late. He wore the wrong hat. FLOTUS wore the wrong shoes.
Truly, sick people.
Save it buddy. What comes around goes around. We listened to it for 8 ******* years.
And likewise, deal with the fact that Trump's the POTUS.
When did I ever say he wasn't? And trust me...we're definitely dealing with it. BOY are we dealing with it!
I think you will have a hard time dealing with the next 7+ years of Trump. Might want to go ahead and make a reservation at the clinic for a mental health evaluation. I suspect you are too far down in the hole to be saved.
That's nice...but who the **** are you? Never seen you here before, but you are somehow qualified to make evaluations of me.
People are dying and are fighting for their lives and here you are with your negativity. How about shutting your damn mouth. You are what's wrong with this country. Instead of coming together, you are trying to rip this country apart. ******* amazing!

And trump is there with his $40 hat advertisement and wishing for adulation, and big and boisterous crowds. That okay with you?
Quit parroting that dumb*** "take" from that second-rate website. I watched and heard that entire thing, he was praising the crowd, not taking credit for it or whatever. He's saying what great people, what a crowd.
Then he's saying "We want this to be the model of how this type of thing should be handled, driving that objective to his team surrounding him. That's exactly what he and they should be striving for. Success.
You rather he said "let's botch this as badly as we can and make sure these poor foik suffer even further"? Good grief.
He wore a USA hat. Big effing deal. Should he have put on his USSR hat instead? Damn, man.
What second rate website?
And as for what I want, it's quite simple. Stop making this thing about yourself trump, that's pretty much it. I realize that's just who he is, a clinical narcissist, but I still have hope the one day he will drop it and at least publicly show an iota of empathy.

It took Obama almost four days to issue a declaration in reference to the flooding from Hurricane Joaquin in October of 2015 and three days after landfall of Hurricane Matthew last fall.
Always kind of funny to read New York articles about flyover country. There's a picture showing flooding in Houston's "downtown." Its actually the American General Complex with about 4 buildings 2 miles west of downtown at Montrose and Allen Parkway. It is, however, an amazing picture if you know the area. Buffalo Bayou is normally about 10 feet wide and just a few feet deep in the very center of the picture. There's about a 150 yard wide, 30 feet deep channel, which you can identify from the dense trees surrounding it. Not only is that filled, but Allen Parkway and Memorial Drive, 4 lane roads on either side are inundated and the water is well into the parking lots of the American General Complex which is a little higher elevation than Allen Parkway.
New York state has sent about 100 National Guard with boats according to the article.
Apparently I-45 is now clear with just the access roads flooded. The area around Addicks Resevoir and Cypress Creek has issues.
City of Houston is asking its employees to report tomorrow. Heard of downtown firms having people report today. Now the area around my parent's house in Pearland is still inaccessible.
