So we go from you being offended watching the ESPY's on ESPN, a channel you say yo unever watch, to now you are upset that they recapped the show on ESPN, again a network you never watched. Admit that you lied the fist time, and feined the outrage, and move on.

This whole thread is weird. Live and let live. Complaining about ESPN getting away from its sports mission is about 25 years too late.
Who the hell cares who they honored during their phony awards show?

RE: ESPN can rot; bad for America
*BUMP*
Espin moves Asian American Robert Lee from the game in Virginia to the game in Pittsburgh. ESPN continues to be political. They are losing viewers because:
1. cord cutting for streaming devices
2. Cord cutting by people like my Mom and Grandma who don't watch sports and save money on their bills by cutting out the espn sports package.
3a. They ruined college sports by actively promoting certain schools (BCS, P5) while deeming others as "mid-majors" or "non-power schools". 20 years later, they've created severe damage to the schools deemed inferior while making athletic lightweights like Illinois, Rutgers, Washington St, Wake, BC, Texas Tech, Baylor etc. rich.
3b. Political stance they've been taking. Espin is clearly going left when a big chunk of their audience is on the other end of political spectrum AND probably do not want politics in their sports anyway.

You have to post the link or no one will know what you are talking about.

Really dumb, embarrassing, but par for the course of the intellect shown by certain political groups in our country lately.
That said, ESPN are reaching out...

I actually ran into a replay of the Cornhole Championships last weekend while visiting family. I thought I was watching the OCHO. Funny stuff.

But they are reaching out to a larger audience.

What a joke, I used to be a sports center junky, it has been quite a while since I have watched one though. As in 2 + years, once they got political I pulled the plug. The same with the NFL, the only NFL I watched last year was maybe some Sunday night games and parts of MNF. That's it, I followed the Chiefs mostly through box scores. Why??? They are mixing politics and sports and watching an "oppressed" multi -millionaire kneel for the national anthem made my stomach turn. Even worse, was the NFL's acceptance of it. Goodell has ruined the league... Ok rant over.

I despise ESPN and will not watch anything other than a game or two I am interested in.
It has nothing to do with politics, though, and I tuned out years and years ago.

I agree. I obviously missed this post when it was first made. Beyond your points, I'm not even sure how the award to Jenner is "political". Transgender rights leans more liberal, and yet Jenner is a lifelong Republican considering a US Senate run. So...political for who exactly?

Political correctness and politics run amuck at ESPN. ESPN, a cable tv station that attempted to destroy my school and many others by deeming us mid-major and deciding those who they did business with were major. (P5, B©S etc. I watched as Rutgers was deemed a major school while ECU was deemed less than. I'm still watching it. If ESPN ever reverses course and stops doing that crap I'll let off of them. Just show the games espn.

Yeah, but you can't be TOO upset -- just rolling eyes. Basically, they were trying to avoid people going "WTF" about it, and being too cautious, which unknowingly backfired. They weren't trying to make a political statement, but naively trying to avoid one.

(07-16-2015 07:57 AM)billybobby777 Wrote: I heard about what Espin pulled last night with the espys. Political hacks now too? Shameful. ESPN is evil because, just like fake journalism networks like Fox News and msnbc, ESPIN makes the news, they don't report it. They made news up about Tim Tebow for years when he was not relevant in sports or news, tried to destroy by ignoring entities they had no contract with (NHL, Olympics, MWC, CUSA) and did destroy colleges with their push to end long time regional conferences who wouldn't play with them. (big east was destroyed by ESPN who pushed tv partner ACC to raid them of their football schools. from 03 to 12, the big east lost 6 of their football schools to the ACC. BC's former AD, "ESPN told us what to do" Espin didn't even bother to send announcers to several of their basketball games last season. Shameful. Espin destroys schools by labeling them as "mid-major" even when they are not, and even if their not a basketball program. They use the term to describe every football school not in their made up "P5". They used the stupid BCS label to separate schools from 98 to 2013. And finally, thank you espin for ending UT/A&M, WV/Pitt, KU/Mizzou, BYU/Utah, CUSE/UCONN, Nebraska/Colorado/KU,KSU and many more great rivalry games, the things that make college sports great. ESPIN. Hacks, disgusting filthy political and criminal hacks. Cheers!
For once, you and I can agree. Down with ESPN!!!

This thread is weird. ESPN is just a corporate entity. Hating ESPN is like hating Home Depot, or hating the Idaho Potato Growers Association.

True, but Home Depot and the Idaho Potato Growers Association do not toss in political personal agendas into the marketing and distribution of their products.
