First of all, we are part of the reason that CUSA is a one bid league every year. The CAA was a one bid league as well until some of the better programs finally did something about it.

But at the very least, we should expect to beat W&M, Marshall, and UTSA on a regular basis. Let's start there.

2007 W&M is better than 2016 MTSU. Not a doubt in my mind.

No doubt this year's team of sophomores lost some head scratching games (many when one or more were hurt or suspended), but the same can be said for VV/Dahi/Drew/Henderson/Johnson and Finney/James/Hassell/Carter. Both groups had RPIs very similar to this year's team when they were sophomores.

While I'm not ready to lop JJ's head off today, I'm willing to give him the next two years to establish the trajectory of the program. I truly believe next year and the year after, ODU will be special. If for some reason we are not, I'm OK parting ways with JJ.

There are absolutely fans that would rather lose to prove their point than win and be wrong. That part is certainly obvious.

I don't want us to lose, I want us to win and win Big.

I just realize JJ is never going to be that guy.

You keep burying your head in the sand though sweetie.

You've been wrong about jones being the answer since day one and you aren't man enough to admit it.

It is what it is.

But to get what you want, a new head coach, they'll need to really suck it up next year. And I know you've mentioned that his mediocrity will be good enough to never get canned but next year is your chance.

The only other way I see him leaving is if Wood takes another gig. The new AD will want to hire his own guy.

Honestly I think I can make my point a little more clearly......

Is there any chance in hell than jones is going to get hired away from odu in the next couple years? No? Then he isn't doing his job well enough.

That's just a fact of college basketball. Jones isn't going anywhere unless we fire him because no one else wants him.

No one wanted him when he was at American and no one else wants him now and a majority of his current fanbase is ready for him to go as well.
This may seem simplistic, but honestly, it is a clear way to look at it. If you are really excelling at our level, somebody is going to want your coach. If they don't want him, he isn't raising your profile.

Correct...ODU is a stepping stone job to a better job...So rather than hire an up and coming young coach Wood gambled on hiring JJ hoping he would be the answer and Wood would not have to go through the hiring process a second time....

VV drew and dahi made the NCAA tourney as sophomores.

Really good point though lol.

We ended the year losing to utsa and Marshall........that's awesome improvement as the season progressed.

Sweet 16 here we come! Jesus.

But he wasn't the answer.........he's the mediocre coach some of us thought he was. We've been bounced in the quarterfinals three of 4 years.

No one should be ok with this. No one.

I like Jeff Jones, but, his record against W&M and VCU make me want him gone.

Even if it were that, it still isn't good enough.

But we've lost 4 out of the last 5.
