Rice is in first place and all is right in the world again 03-wink

But seriously, we definitely have to win tomorrow as I don't see USM dropping a second straight at home!

I wasn't able to attend tonight's game so I don't know what the umps did exactly. But I hate that our fans always go after the refs/umps almost every time we lose a game. Need to get these next 2 games. I'm somewhat confident in McCarty tomorrow but Sunday really really worries me.

I fully expect the series to come down to Sunday. That has been the day I have been most optimistic about in expecting Tech to win. Sutton has been performing at a high level. We will see. It's nice to be relevant

Batter stepped out of the batter's box twice in a row as Lowery was delivering the pitch. Ump granted the timeout both times, second time would have been strike 3. Next batter the guy tries to steal second, Robinson clearly threw him out, umpire was out of position (he was at third base), so he didn't see the clear tag that Dawson got on the runner. La Tech proceeded to score like 5 runs after that all happened, all with two outs. I knew as soon as that went down that Lowery needed to come out of the game. They waited too late to pull him, though.

The Monarchs had to come from behind, but they did finally get a win (6-4) against the dreaded Raiders. Now it's time to get the second win and ensure we take the series. Hell, get the win today, and then go for the sweep. Nothing could be sweeter!

RE: 5/13 - 5/15 CUSA baseball weekend action
Standings as of Saturday morning.

1 - Rice (19-6)
2 - USM (18-7)
3 - FAU (17-8) -- beat Marshall head to head
4 - Marshall (17-8)
5 - La Tech (16-9)
6 - ODU (13-12)
7 - Charlotte (10-15) -- 2-1 vs FIU, plays UAB next weekend, doesn't play WKU
7 - FIU (10-15) -- 1-2 vs Charlotte, 2-1 vs WKU, 1-0 vs UAB
7 - WKU (10-15) -- 2-1 vs UAB, 1-2 vs FIU, doesn't play Charlotte
7 - UAB (10-15) -- 0-1 vs FIU, 1-2 vs WKU, plays Charlotte next weekend
11 - UTSA (6-19)
12 - MT (4-21)

Those final 2 spots ( 7 and 8 seeds) for the CUSA tournament should add some excitement these last 2 weekends. I have no idea how to determine the tiebreaker for 7-10 with the current records so those aren't "official" by any means...simply randomly placed by me.

Did not watch the game but if the first time the batter stepped out and it would have been ball four would you still be upset with the ump for granting the timeout?

...and how do you know the batter would have taken that pitch for a called Strike 3? He could have just as easily drilled a single or extrabase hit, no?

It's nice that Tech can actually contribute to the conference in baseball

Hell, going into this I expected ODU to sweep. Middle Tennessee has not won a single conference road game this season. Not one. If ODU gets beat in either of the two games left this weekend, you will have the embarrassment of losing to a team that has not beaten a host team.

So Middle Tennessee is due for a road win then. Law of averages has to go in the other direction sometime when it gets this out of balance. Same holds true for ODU against Middle Tennessee on the hard court.

Winston never should have been pulled.

Berry, once again, got too clever trying to play matchups. If you have a pitcher who you can have complete faith in to get that out, it is a good move. Lowery is not that guy, though.

No crying. We lost.

My goodness.

McCarty, who has been outstanding over the last month, has hit three batters and walked another in the second inning. Every one of those with two strikes. 2-0 Tech.

SAC Fly. 3-0.
