At this point stars should be out the window. Are any of them any good?

I ask because I don't know.

Well, can anyone really know how good the "next guy up" is after losing a kid like Arbuckle, with his experience, talent, and leadership? Probably not. We've not seen enough of the others on the field to say, but I think it fair to say we lose a lot with Nick gone.

What I do like about this is that this kid was recruited to a P5 program, a good one at that, graduated in 21/2 years, and decided to transfer to GSU. He's a California kid, leaving Utah to come to GSU. That says something about the staff, the program, the bowl exposure, who knows what else. Can't be a bad thing...and competition can only make it better.

Like I said, one more was needed to push comp. There will not be another like Arbuckle. He was beyond special. I will take a manager who completes around 60% of his passes and doesn't crap the bed with a side of running game. Don't necessarily need a hero. But Winchester and Scaife need to know that they are in a fight for this job.

Utah OC wants more of a dual threat. This kid is more of classic drop back pro style passer. So fits out offense.

We have two 3 star HS recruited QBs sitting on this roster. Reading is fundamental.

How do you think he chose us Sherlock? Pulled out the phone book and randomly pointed? I am sure he meant to call you, but, alas, the whole GSU thing confused him. Anyway. Graduate transfers are like any other recruit, just with a different protocol. Some are Lamberts going to Georgia. Some are Wilsons going to Wisconsin.

California QBs are like Georgia RBs. You definitely can miss, but the fish you want are in that pond. Brady, Rodgers, Romo, Cassell, Alex Smith, Carr, not to mention all time greats like Moon, Elway & Cunningham.

Now don't confuse our enthusiasm about this as confidence that he will be the guy, and he will be great. Again, Grayson Lambert anyone? But. I think the vast majority of us Georgia State fans wanted an additional QB that could come in right now and compete for the job. He is enrolling in January, and Arbuckle doesn't graduate until May I believe. So this gives him a chance to sit down and work with Arbuckle. Plus if there are no pro bites for Arbuckle, he will be returning to State as a Graduate Assistant. It should be a helluva spring for us. So whoever gets this job will not only be working with Jags and Huard, but possibly Arbuckle as well. That position was going to be our biggest question mark this season. So I think I am confident is saying our enthusiasm isn't that he is THE guy, but that one of the 3 at QB will be the guy that can continue this momentum.

RE: Georgia State gets 3 star graduate transfer QB from the Utes
I heard this on the radio when Mark Richt was fired, if Richt got a hold of Arbuckle instead of Grayson Lambert (I know they are 1 year apart), Richt would still be in Athens and would have played in Atlanta for the SEC title game.

The timing and the feel Arbuckle had with this WR was unreal.

Pick 4 three-star QBs at random and the fourth best one of the group will usually not be all that good.

Remember all the Star Jackson hype around 2010? That guy actually saw the field for Alabama in 2009 and when he got to Georgia State he was a bust.

Hate to come off as just another GS fan piling on here, but I can honestly say if it were my team I wouldn't get hopes up over someone that deep on any depth chart being the primary QB.

At least you guys will still be a lot better off player-wise than 2013.

Yep. Suspended for a lot of the 2010 season. I believe he got someone pregnant and got the hell out of dodge after that 1st season. Something tells me this transfer won't have some of those issues.

He chose you probably because after Arbuckle, you don't have very much. He chose to leave Utah because he knew he wouldn't sniff the field otherwise, and it's not like he's the #2 behind Utah's version of Peyton Manning, either. Good luck.

Yeah you are right. I mean that Upshaw of yours looks like he will be a bust, and he wasn't going to sniff the field at FIU. Oh wait.
