RE: Camellia Bowl
Stat sheets say it shouldn't have been so close, however that's pretty normal in app games, we like to shoot ourselves in the foot and you guys did a great job of making sure we didn't miss our feet, the Ohio fans I talked to were good folks, past the 20 something girl that randomly walked past and said fvck Appalachian state, but the ones I actually talked to were good people, your team is very good and for the most part well mannered as well, may want to send the qb with the number 14 to some self-discipline classes though. Anyways great game guys, thanks for making it fun! A blow out either way is just no fun.

Well App state was 10-2 with one of those losses to Clemson, so they're tough. Surprised to hear about the whole Vick situation, that's strange.

Camellia Bowl
It was a couple of good, evenly matched but flawed G5 teams (and I know way too much about flawed teams) and one of the most entertaining games of the season. It was a fun game to watch. It looked like they could have played another 4 quarters, and it would have still come down to the last play.

I hope there are at least a couple of other bowl games that are as closely matched with as many dramatic plays.

I am a Solich fan and watch a lot of Maction. My question is about Solich. He has elevated Ohio football but now falls to 2 and 5 in bowls games with the Bobcats. Is he on the hotseat? Is he head coach until he retires? Has he taken the program as far as he can.

Btw: it was a great game.

Btw: it was a great game.

there's some frustration with Solich and some grumblings that he's hit his ceiling but his seat is secure until he decides to retire, then they'll name the field after him.

In the 20 seasons before Solich came to Ohio the Bobcats won a total of 61 games. Frank just finished his 11th season with 80 wins, NIU is the only MAC program with more wins in that time frame. Ohio fans are appreciative of the improvement, of getting the team bowl eligible 9 of 11 seasons, and winning the program's first 2 bowl games.

BUT, Ohio is 0-3 in the MAC championship game and hasn't been there since 2011. Ohio's last conference championship win was 1968. That's a big monkey he has yet to get off his back.

Since 2009 Ohio is 48-2 when leading at halftime, the two losses were the 2011 MAC Championship game when they were up 20-0 on NIU and lost 23-20 on a last second FG. The other loss was last night's loss to App State, on a last second FG.

I appreciate all that he has done for the program but will be hopeful that when he steps down his replacement will win more big games.

Who do you think will be his replacement? Is there an OC or DC who's been in Athens a while?

the OC and DC have both been there since 2005. Nothing against them but I hope its not anyone from Frank's staff. That would be change without changing. When Frank leaves new blood is needed.

RE: Camellia Bowl
Well.... It's Monday... I've really tried to avoid getting back on here for a little, but I think I'm finally past the initial shock of what happened. What a heartbreaking loss.... OU's defense did everything they could to put us in a position to win. You'd think being a Browns fan would prepare you for this disappointment, but it still stings.

I would like give a shout out to the Appalachian State fans I was drinking with at the OU Alumni watch party in DC. They were being good sports throughout the entire game (even when down by 17 in the 4th quarter) and seemed like some genuinely good folks. They've convinced me to make a visit to Boone someday.

The loss aside, what a great way to kick off Bowl Season. Good luck to my other MAC brethren competing in Bowls this month!

Also, was there any truth to our players taunting App State fans after the first half? People on Yosef's Cabin are claiming this is true, calling us classless.

Maybe they've never seen a football game before. I can't recall a game in a long time where someone wasn't taunting someone else about something. Do they think their players never taunt anyone?

I have a feeling if there was any taunting it was started by the fans. It usually is.

You know, there was a little bit of jawing between the team and the fans as they went into the locker room, but I don't think it was classless by any means. Given the crazy turn of events leading up to halftime, I can totally see why they were so jazzed going into the locker room and I don't see a problem with that at all.

I think having both teams share the same exit from the field contributed more than anything... the Ohio players had to wait for a long time to head to the locker room and they had to cross in front of the App fans to get there.

I have a feeling if there was any taunting it was started by the fans. It usually is.

I think the fact that the entire Ohio football team appeared to rush over to our primary fan section to taunt the fans, when they were likely just waiting for our team to clear out so they could exit the field, is why so many App fans were upset about it. I was in that section. The Ohio players definitely started it. I saw double birds from several OU players and other mocking gestures. It would have certainly generates a flag or two had the officials still been on the field. The App fans gave it right back with one of the strongest A-S-U chants I've ever heard. Several of our players saw the whole thing go down.

The thing that had me confused was the inexplicable hubris that prompted such an action by the OU team. I mean, they had just been statistically dominated at the end of the first half. They had a lead based on two bone-headed plays by the Mountaineers. I understand that the game doesn't stop when you're not on offense, but I wouldn't have been very confident even with a lead had I been an Ohio fan at that point in time.

All the OU fans I met were great. Very nice, fun, and knowledgeable fan base. Although I think a lot of OU players have a lot to learn with regards to sportsmanship and humility (a lesson I was happy to see the Black and Gold teach them on national TV), I left with an overall good impression of the Ohio University.

Great game. Great experience.

Like I thought, I guess this was your first football game.

So when ASU players made big plays, that was humility they were exhibiting, not cockiness. Interesting perception.

The Ohio players were jacked up and rightly so as they left the field. They took the opportunity to go all scoreboard on our fans. Too bad for them the game wasn't over.

Part of it was there was a good grouping of app fans right behind the Ohio bench, and some (not me) were having a good go at taunting the Ohio players, a little too much booze in some of the fans I guess, they really got into #14 that third string qbs head he was jawing back at them a good bit of the game
