I like your thinking but I'd be surprised if he isn't now the new Iowa State OC...just my hunch...

I am glad this is done. Hopefully, Candle talked to the Toledo recruits after Campbell did. Candle has always been touted as a great recruiter, so hopefully this news can settle things down. Keeping Heacock, the D-Line coach, and RB coach would be great keeps if possible.

Also, did Matt Campbell do us all a favor here in Toledo and take the receivers coach with him to Aimes?

Now we have your list of recruits and Candle will make them all Toledo recruits, at least the ones we want. Damn, that Army career spent in the Special Operations community has finally paid off. O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive!

Between Beckman and Campbell there should be enough talent looking to bolt from two bottom feeder football programs to give us some options. Anyone else at Illinois that might come back?

Interesting factoid: Candle and Heacock graduated from the same high school, just about 20 years apart.

Heacock has two teenage sons, is an Ohio guys, so I doubt he wants to move to Ames IA, so I hope he stays.

Doesn't sound like it, but maybe we could take up a collection.

Great news. Bruce says it is a great hire, the players wanted him, and he is our best recruiter. Thank you MOB.

Really hope this isn't true.

He is our new HC, so, lets all suck it up, and give the guy a chance. He may be a better HC then Campbell was.

Just wondering why we would hire a terrible OC as our new head coach.

What a world we live in. Getting a team to average 463 yds/game & 35 pts/game makes you terrible at your job.

Would have been nice to have a real national search instead of a fake one.

I think you are going a bit over the top. He wasn't a terrible OC. His offense has been consistent, and in most cases not why UT would lose games. Considering that UT had to replace their entire O-Line last year, they did pretty well all things considered this year. He has been named a top recruiter time and time again, and this hire instantly brings stability back to a program with a TON coming back next year. Do we want him to run the ball more, YES! Hopefully he brings in someone that can take a fresh/smart look at the strengths of our personnel, and puts together game plans accordingly.

This exactly. Let's get a good coaching staff in place and make sure there are multiple succession plans.

I've met him a few times and he came off as very quiet and reserved. I am curious to see how he coemes off now that he is the Main Man. Side note, I know his wife through the United Way (she is Director of their Womens Initiative), and she is a terrific person. A true asset to this community. If she likes this guy, he can't be to bad. ;-)

Agree 100%. Like a few others have said, this is a similar sequence to when Pinkel left and Amstutz was later hired. Also, you can't blame any of these coaches for following MC to Iowa. There's no guarantee they would be hired by the next staff at UT. Certainly a tough balance when talking about poaching, but them going to ISU in a short term basis is understandable.

Jason was just asked about this in the press conference and said he was never in Ames. He said it was superimposed. Then, he went on to talk about trust and honesty. Are we sure the caption wasn't a typo? Can anyone confirm the location of this photo and the people that are in it? Otherwise, this look REALLY bad.

I believe he was joking about the photo being superimposed. He didn't think he was going to still have a job at Toledo, so he went to Ames, but came back to Toledo when Mike O'Brien offered the job to him. Good luck to Coach Candle!
