Has he ever been to App state? Or was he listening to people who had? Our other sports and radio guys are the ones who have made the trip, HUD hadn't until Saturday. When he made the comment there were a lot of other names being mentioned that your fans wouldn't want to be associated with either. He has given app and GS plenty or respect and compliments but I guess you don't find the time to look those up and post them. He has been on record in the paper saying the league improved and you bring tradition and atmosphere to the League. I guess that quote slipped through your editing huh?

On record AFTER he got served a huge plate of crow last year. You can't deny The HUD is outspoken and sometimes his mouth gets him in trouble.

No, on record shortly after the initial interview before you played a down, an inning or **** your first basket in this league. He is outspoken, which may get him in trouble but I can appreciate A little honesty now and then. Still don't see anything wrong with pointing out you think your defense played well enough to give you a shot. I'm sure your genius PR savy coach would have said " their worthless, all of em. I don't know how any of them got a scholarship. I think all 3 phases played terrible, actually that's not what I think but I'm just gonna say it anyway" The guy thought our defense gave us a chance, that's it...but enjoy your paranoia.

When ULL visits GS next year, I'd like to see Huds deliver an apology on he video board for the inflammatory comments the made regarding GS and App moving from FCS to the Sun Belt.

Yeah, the same horrible man who went to the Southern locker room after last year's loss to the Cajuns and told them to hang in there, that despite the money troubles that were making their football life miserable, they were a really good football team with a lot of potential.

It's funny that ULL fans are telling App fans to not take something their coach said so seriously yet continue to take something App fans are saying so seriously. I can't be the only one seeing this, unless their fanbase is similar to Hud, speak first, think later. He is entertaining.

So are you interested in calling up any FCS team that wants in? I dont think it was a sleight against App or GS, just a statement. Maybe he was referring to those programs with thin-skinned fans...

no doubt HUD put his foot in his mouth with the travel quotes, first, no one is feeling sorry for him or his program, everyone else makes the same trip up the mountain, and you don't hear them complaining, second, as stated before, there are 3 or 4 easier, quicker ways to Boone, he just picked the cheapest route, which begs the question, who is he really pissed at, having to make the trip to Boone, and a school he didn't want in the SBC, or is he pissed at his administration for going cheap and making them take the toughest route possible?

You do realize sports writer decide what to write about it? They take a 30-40 minute press conference and pick what they quote. They don't include the question, context of the statement or the actual dialogue around the statements. They put words he says in quotation and frames the story however he wants. I watch every press conference and soneone asked him about it, he joked and said I don't think you can even get there from here with a smile on his face. Then was asked what are the travel plans, he didn't bring it up, he wasn't complaining... But hey take a few quotes from an article and run with it...that's what the writer wants anyway.

Did Hud really make snide comments about not wanting to be in a conference with FCS move ups or are you pulling a BRTransplant on us and attributing bullshiite message board talk to people who had nothing to do with the comments.

If he did say such a thing, it was a stupid thing for any head coach to say and it should be easy for you to support your claim. I'll await a linky.

He said he didn't want to be a part of a transition league and he didn't approve of the move ups. Remember, HUD has to change the perception of UL in the region. It wasn't a shot at GaSo or App St because he never named either program. That's how they took it because, well, they fit the description. We were not a winning program, take away '96-'05 and we might be a .500 program. I see nothing wrong with adding app St or GaSo when we did. Once I knew we were going the FCS route I wanted Texas St (WAC), UTSA, App St and ODU. Sorry GaSo I honestly never heard of y'all.

I agree, wasn't smart... At the time we also had a lot going on internally. Or should I say it came to light, hardly anything was going on internally in regards to conference realignment. I'd be willing to get that was aimed more at our administration than you. HUD hasn't been some FBS staple...he played at delta state, coached at Nichols, Debra state and north Alabama. He isn't some lifelong FBS snob and he has openly spoken out about the P5 trying to break away.
