There's probably not anything wrong with a plaza and grassy slope facing opposite the new complex in the other end zone. Could be a nice main entrance to the facility. Other than the fact that the players will leave away from the fans and won't get to offer high-fives, etc.

Wow. That pile of steel beams is shrinking fast. It looks like all they have left in the steel framing is finishing the roof....then finishing the east ground floor.

The only thing that I really liked about the Greenspan proposal was the flattening of the south endzone to ground level. I think that would make a beautiful entrance to the stadium. Open it up.

Any word on the specs of the scoreboard? JK posted that the supports are up with a picture included on Twitter.

Isn't that what the conspiracy theorists are saying about the Kennedy assassination.

We could have a little Kennedy Speech memorial there, and a beer garden called 'The Knoll'.

Beer garden? Need to have a hard liquor garden so people can take shots on the grassy knoll. Rimshot

I'll agree with you on the need for shots after watching some of these games.

Let's hope we learned our weaknesses last weekend and figure out how to eliminate them. The EZF will be completed soon enough. One more excuse eliminated, but I'm sure there will be something else.

Can we keep this crap to the other 10 threads we have b*tching and moaning about our team?

Let's try and keep this one on topic - it's been very refreshing coming here and really only finding updates about the EZF and some wonderful jokes about JFK.

Wondering why the new scoreboard supports involve so much less steel than the previous scoreboard's supports.
Two verticals instead of four (so far), and much smaller in cross-section.

Hopefully it's large enough to hold all of Baylor's points next year.

Yea that's what I was getting at when I was asking about the specs of the new board. Is it that much smaller than before or were the older supports just overkill?

Or maybe it is just an extremely light-weight video board? 100-foot OLED would be pretty swanky!

I would think that, in Houston, the worst-case load scenario would be a hurricane, where the load would be proportional to the surface area of the screen, not the weight.

The artist's rendition of the finished facility depicts the scoreboard as supported by just what we see now on the webcam.

The player ramp does appear to be varying from the art.

Rice Football just posted a bunch of new pictures on Facebook that may answer this question---there appear to be diagonal braces coming back from behind the new scoreboard structure into the main building framework. The old scoreboard had no such braces.

I was just about to come here and comment that. The facility looks great. I can't wait to see it in person this weekend and really see how big the new scoreboard will be. I'm not expecting Auburn size or anything but I was worried it was looking smaller than our old one.

You won't be able to actually get into the construction site, but it is very visible from throughout the stadium. The best views that I saw at the last home game were from the north side ramps to the upper decks.
