You are still asking event venues to schedule games at a moment's notice. Not to mention all the fans that would have to make vacation/travel plans in the same length of time.

Or Norfolk/Va Beach, ODU has hosted many NCAA games including the first 2 Final Fours for the Women. We'll have a new arena soon in Va Beach, that will be super nice like NBA nice. Plus cheap off season hotels. It will be well supported. We do the Women's NCAAs about every three years and usually have one of the better total attendance for those brackets. The new practice gym next to the Ted would provide another set of locker rooms and another practice floor for the games.

The Men and Women's tournaments used to be in two different cities. It didn't work. It won't happen again.

ODU has strong women's attendance (and could be much more once we get back on track). LaTech and MTSU have a following as well. Rotate between those three and you'll have a nice women's tournament. There is more value by splitting it up. It can also help the women side establish some type of an identity.

The C-USA Television Deal isn't separated between Men and Women. Much easier for the TV networks when both tournaments are in the same place.

You are making an argument to host it. I recommend you lobby your AD to reach out to local governments to put a package together for the conference decision-makers.

Not really -

You basically have the schools block one week extra for their arenas

If the Semifinals/Finals are a Saturday/Sunday or a Friday/Saturday you are still going to get the same travel number since the sites are at a neutral site and announced a year in advance


Play Monday 1st round - 5, 6, 7, & 8 host

Play Weds - quarters

Friday - Semis

Saturday - Finals

This year - Tech, UTEP, ODU and UAB would be quarterfinal hosts

Allows you to keep the tourneys together also

Still a helluva lot more complicated than announcing a venue 9 months out.

Whoever is the last place team at the end of January gets to hold the Tournament.

I think Knoxville would be a decent neutral site, really close to Marshall, ODU, Charlotte, not too far for MTSU, WKU, UAB, would be great for East Division schools, the west not so much but a lot closer than Greensboro for West schools.

I think a perfect neutral sites would be Memphis (east) and Austin (west).

How bout kick out UAB and keep it in Birmingham? Jk.

It don't need to be anywhere more than two years unless a big success. Nashville would be a great place , but the OVC and SEC about have nashville locked up

Unless you have family, there is nothing worth visiting in Knoxville. I have an uncle there and it is nothing great. Chattanooga is much nicer and has a little more to do.

Another Neutral site option should be the De Soto Center in Southhaven, MS. Just outside of Memphis. Just north of the casino. A smallish (7000 seast) arena that would make the crowd look better. Centrally located between east and west. Not that far for WKU, MTSU, USM, La Tech, UAB. Drive-able for several others.
