It required an application and they only admit about 150 per year out of about 6,000 applications. I also know it is true because that same kid applied and took a test for IB at PA and was not accepted.

I doubt there are 6000 applications to that Academy. There's only about 21,000 students in Beach high schools. I don't I think 1 of every 3.5 students is applying to go to the Math & Science Academy.

I do agree it's not a rubber stamp thing these days from what I understand.

He probably meant 600. That is pretty accurate.
@ESPNRittenberg: #OldDominion coaching search ramping up. Hear that Penn State offensive coordinator Ricky Rahne is in the mix there. South Carolina defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson also a name being mentioned for the Monarchs job.
Rahne would be disappointing, but the PSU fans would be thrilled.
Well now we're competing with FAU. I have to imagine their destination is better than ours, especially with the buyout from Lane they are about to receive and put towards a new coach, but what do I know. Maybe they are a tier above with $$$.
Maybe a second courting for Wilder and FAU. 03-lmfao

Haha the Penn fans are begging us to take him.

Edit. Wow Penn St nation is unanimously rejoicing and offering to drive the guy here and pay Penn St athletics to send him.
Point of clarification: Penn State. Not Penn. Penn is an Ivy League school in Philly.

I had the same thought. That’s why we need to wrap this up quick. We have a head start on the schools that will lose coaches for being too good. So need to get the best coach available at our level before they do.
Let's hope our new coach has already signed 02-13-banana
Just because certain coacahes applied doesnt mean ODU is interested....

But, the officials would be very familiar with Rahne. He was here every summer.

Just curious. When a distant source tweets information about candidates none of us seem to be aware of, where is that info coming from? Inside ODU sources or from the 2 different schools mentioned?

There are doxens of coaches that applied for the job. This board only mentions a small portion

Thank you as a Penn alumnus. We used to sell "Not Penn State University" tee shirts.

A lot of the times it comes from the coach’s agent, trying to get his guy’s name out there.
makes sense.

I like everything I am reading about Ricky Rahne. See below. I think he would be a very good choice. I am all for my fellow Ivy Leaguer. I hope he is the guy.

Read the articles. Not sure I see the attraction. Their message board fans sure don't share it. FWIW

Apparently, he may be in town this weekend. Allegedly.

He is the OC of the 10th ranked team in the country and a tireless worker and a young guy on the rise. Maybe I am also partial to fellow Ivy Leaguers. He seems smart and personable.
