They are reworking a package where you fly to Dallas for 2 night stay and then get a nonstop flight to DTX for the actual game on gameday. Heated transportation provided from airport to game.

Well, I'm not going then!! 03-hissyfit If the 2 night stay were in Boca or the Bahamas where I could strut my Speedo-clad body and six-pack, I'd be there (as long as I don't drink the six-pack on the plane)!
Lets get to the important stuff...

We home team or away?
It would be a great game to be color on color unis Red vs Blue.

Nah, this post is obtuse. Common sense is to show decency to a bowl that extended you an invitation, especially when they had other options. There’s a reason 99% of coaches don’t rip on a bowl host.

er ..... 99.999999999 % that is

Now it's about honesty?
On the other hand, didn't the MAC have a direct MAC tie-in with the previous bowl in Detroit? And they got essentially kicked out of Detroit by the Big 14, the ACC, and Ford Field, in favor of this bowl? This bowl was supposed to now be Big 14 vs. ACC, and a MAC team just happened to fall into it for this year as a secondary arrangement.

I don't feel THAT bad for this new bowl game. We're Plan B for them anyway.
And with NIU accepting this bid we can be certain that there will no longer be a Quicklane Bowl within a year or two.
If the MAC doesn't have this backup deal in place with the Quick Lane then there is also a chance NIU is sitting home this post season. Getting a bowl game that is driveable for many fans against an ACC opponent is awesome. It would be nice to finally win one one of these and if NIU is victorious this could end up being the biggest postseason win in program history. I will take that all day.

Sounds like fans are on board, coaches and players would rather not be bowling which is unfortunate because that can affect fan motivation. I don't blame them for this, I understand wanting to spend holidays with family but probably best to keep that internal instead of letting the world see it

Who said coaches and players would rather not go bowling????
Not sure if posted yet...

We are 2 1/2-3 point "dogs".

I would like to think the Huskies have other advantages like having played in Detroit before, closer to home for travel, and our Huskie fans should show up. Duke has a fine program this year, but NIU should bring a fight to Detroit.

I thought about the "having played" at Ford Field before but really very few current players actually saw the field back in 2015.
Life in the slow lane to Motown is not the same as traveling the quick lane.

Unless you get a proper lube job.
So I guess we already have a built-in excuse if we lose to a 6-6 team. Our coach wasn't interested in being in this game. The same coach who gets his behind handed to him on a consistent basis in the postseason.
Those of you going to the bowl game, if you have the time and you enjoy Motown music, you should really visit the Motown Museum on West Grand Boulevard. The tour was something I'll never forget - especially Studio A, where all those great Motown hits of the 1960s were recorded. It's amazing how everything was recorded in such a small studio in that house. You can even sit at the piano that all the greats played (like Stevie Wonder). I got goosebumps from that tour. Well worth it for Motown fans!

Another great visit is the Henry Ford Museum. The exhibits are fabulous. And to actually sit on the bus that Rosa Parks sat on when she refused to giver up her seat is mind-blowing.

Detroit is a fine city with some great things to do. I have always liked and appreciated the city.

Randy, I guess he has connections to the team. And Carey's comments kind of confirmed what Randy heard about the team being disappointed to have holidays ruined.

His comments re: bowl game is very disturbing and most unfortunate. Would love for Baker to ask him on air from Fatty's if he understood what the radioactive fallout from his remark has generated. Duhhhh!!!

Well said and if the players feel about this Bowl opportunity what has been reported we are in for an embarrassing loss.

I will never forget how coach Tuke motivated the players and remaining staff to get up for the Idaho Potato Bowl after coach Kill slunk out of town.

Should I react and assume the team does not care and not consider going? Why should I care more.=? Or will the team be up to play a P5 school and maybe finally win a Bowl game? I was even considering flying from Chicago to Detroit just because. Not sure what I should do now. I would love to to support NIU and see a bowl game also. Last time I was in Detroit saw NIU beat Kent in an awesome game. It was great to be there. Ugghh. Decisions.

I am reconsidering my earlier decision to attend this game as well. My wife and I have enjoyed attending the MACC games in Detroit. However if the players and coaches are not excited about the opportunity they will not play well and will get blown out which is what I now expect will likely happen.
