Never been to Detroit, but I've seen "Robocop" and "The Crow", so I know a little about the city.

We stay at the Marriott Renaissance Center every time we go to championship game. Indoor parking garage, nice lounge in lobby, will have biggest gathering of fans. Can also hop on the tram and get off a couple of blocks from Ford Field.

It's also not too far from Stadium. Walkable, if you want.

Thanks! Looking for a cheap airline ticket for an up and back from MIA to Detroit.

Miami and all:

Diehard is correct about the Marriott & MACC. Just FYI, yesterday athletics has posted that there are special NIU rates at The Westin Book Cadillac. Looks to be a bit closer than Renaissance. Either would be fine choices.

Sounds like Packages will be announced later today.

Thank you.

Cool, thanks for the link. I was actually hoping the interview would be a little longer to see what else they would talk about, but anyway...it should be an interesting game.
Has anyone seen any info on a fan bus round trip from DeKalb/Oakbrook to Detroit? I was expecting them to do a few but haven't seen anything.

The plan was for me to drive out and stay in a hotel in Ann Arbor but none of my family, friends or co workers can take time off or leave because of out of town guests.

For the last MACC I attended, I flew to Detroit from O'Hare. I also flew once from Midway. It's better and easier to drive, considering all the hassles and time you'll spend at the airport. In addition, DTW is not too close to downtown Detroit, and it cost me over $60.00 in taxi/limo fare (plus tip).
Can drive to Ford Field in 4 hours. Driving to airport, security, boarding, flight, unloading, transportation would take 4 hours.

Did they do one for Central Michigan? I noticed on the way home I passed an NIU bus (the ones that transport students around campus) around Portage IN. Definitely wasn’t the players.

No idea. They just typically do this for the MACC and that is why I was wondering if they were offering one for the bowl.

I haven't seen anything. Hopefully they come up with something before the options become too limited.

I booked the hotel the day the game was announced so I have that to fall back on if there is no bus but I am really not up to doing that drive solo.

The Alum Association and Athletics have not said no yet so maybe they are still working on it to see if it can happen and at what price.
called and left vmail message in NIU athletic office early today re: plans for bussing fans to motown.

no reply yet six hours afterwards

DUKEvs NIU
BTW: Is football more cerebral , physical or where your "blue blood" grandfather alum helped endow the U?

BTW2: 2017 Huskies seem to be one of those teams that plays both UP or DOWN to the level of competition.
Bus + pregame booked!

Hotel canceled!

Seems like no lunch stop for the bus so I will have to ask if they are providing something of if we have to bring something.

How much is the bus HJ?
$185 - bus + pregame reception + ticket ($150 for U12)
$135 - bus + pregame reception ($100 for U12)

LOL!
I am driving and staying overnight at the Westin. Three of us going. Will also be at the pregame. Taking the bus from the hotel to pregame and back to the hotel after game.

Discount is online at the Westin for $124. Looks like if you stay at the Marriott it's $200. Bus to the game is leaving from the Westin as that's the official hotel to stay at. Reminder this bowl is run by the Detroit Lions, not the MAC so arrangements may be different.
