We were down 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth. We loaded the bases with 1 out. WVU brought in a new pitcher and got a K on three pitches. Rutherford worked a 2-2 count and then got hit by a pitch to tie the game. Wood then pulled a pitch over the right field wall for a grand slam to win it.
The Monarchs drop the nightcap 3-1. Rubber game w/ WVU tomorrow.
Monarchs busting the game open in the bottom of the 8th with 5 runs so far.
7-1 Monarchs.
Good week for the Monarchs. Our RPI should go way up. Going to be another tough week with VMI and Rice coming to town.

Why is VCU, who we beat and with a 7-6 record, rated so much higher than us RPI wise?

They won their first game against Florida State who is now #3 in the country so that win alone is keeping their RPI high.

RPI weights home and away games pretty heavily. We played only one away game so far. And our next 7 are home. After that, it's 14 home, 19 away, 1 neutral.
It will all work out in the long run. Just gotta keep winning.
