I got an invitation in the mail today, to my own UNO ring ceremony. Apparently I'm now a senior there, by their reckoning.

If UNO were called UL-NO, and embraced its identity as basically a branch of the campus in Acadiana, i.e. didn't have football of its own, I would probably get the ring and put Cajuns football stuff on it.

Conversely, if UNO were still called LSUNO, I would probably get a Tiger ring.

But what I don't want is a UNO ring, though I pulled hard for them and even went to several games when Tim Floyd was there.

Ponder this dichotomy and the wisdom that comes from its examination.

Best answer to the ULL fans would be to make one more name change and embrace the Lafayette portion of their name rather than be so ashamed of it. Think Louisiville, Miami, Houston, Memphis, etc. My suggestion would be Lafayette State University (LSU).

I would support Lafayette. That would end a lot of hostility. Think Cincinnati. I would even back off.

As far as myself, I always liked the Cajuns until they started the name change fiasco. After instigating this, they (at least the fans) began an all out assault on other University of Louisiana schools and their supporters. One can not have an opinion with their fans without being called an idiot, among many things. I have lost a lot of respect for their fan base and their university. Actually, that distresses and disappoints me.

Somewhere on my computer I've got a pic of a guy playing a really sad song on a tiny violin. I'll see if I can find it.

From the amount of time you spend posting on other Conference and other Team fan boards I assume you spend a lot of time on your computer and probably have all sorts of pics so your claim to have a picture of a guy with a small instrument is not surprising.

Kind of hard to separate yourself as a brand when a Lafayette and an LSU already exist.

On the radio pregame show today, the voice of the Herd was saying that La Tech wanted no part of ULL and Texas State was the most likely add. I don't think CUSA needs 4 teams from Texas Myself

Hilltooppers can't count? CUSA already has 4 good schools from Texas. A GOOD, high quality, 5th school from Texas (Texas State) won't hurt.

Texas State is already a huge rival of UTSA since our campuses are only 50 miles apart. Both AD's have already committed to playing each other in OOC play every year starting in 2016? I would still prefer to see ULL join CUSA. Solid football and excellent baseball.

I'm guessing you have had a dislike for the Cajuns since at least 1984? This was the first year in which they legally changed their name; however, shady state politics reversed the name change a month later.

Many graduates feel the name was wrongly stripped from the university and I couldn't agree more.

How would you feel if after you married your wife and she dropped her maiden name that a month later the government would step in and insist that she not be allowed to use your last name and to revert back to her maiden name?

I am well acquainted with what happened in 1984 and personally had no problem with your quest, at that time. However, your move was deemed improper, rightly or wrongly. It is totally irrelevant. What is relevant is trying to get in the back door illegally and unethically. You made a deal and it affected other institutions, mainly then NLU. UL@L should stick to it. Anything else is merely shenanigans and beneath your university, which is a good one.

I haven't trolled once. All I did was post a photo of a score with the comment "Say what?". You took the fact that ODU beat LT head-to-head as a slight. I mentioned that it was just a reminder. You continued to take umbrage with my comments and wrote an incoherent post in retaliation, where you said we "week of idiocy". I corrected your grammar and spelling in response to the aforementioned post where you questioned my intelligence. You then blamed it on a device that you control.

Point being, no one on this thread has answered this one, most basic question: if it's so bad, and so illegal, etc., then why doesn't anyone.....with authority.....do something sbout it? They won't, because they can't, because no laws are being broken. "Politics?" So if some fans get out of joint because of it, oh well. We all have to live with things we don't like.
For example, ltu should not be proclaiming themselves as the 'flagship of north Louisiana," but somehow I get through it. I just think it is 'beneath them' to do so.

Look I started this thread can it please get locked. I didn't intend for darn name debate to ensue. I just stated the pretty solid info that I gathered from several different sources.

True enough. But ULL is pissing people off with that stuff (and I'm not talking about message board posters) when it should be trying to develop relationships - something that has not exactly been ULL's strong suit. Don't complain when greeted by another cold shoulder when it comes to conferences, scheduling, etc.
