That's my guess, as well.

I think Georgia State would be a strong add, and stronger than anyone in the MAC. But we'll see what happens.

True.

ULL is the stronger program right now. But a move like this is for (potentially) the next 20, 30 years or more. From that perspective, C-USA would be much better off with GA State.

Hmmm. Maybe.

Agreed.

So the question is, would adding NIU achieve that result? Geography is an absolute non-factor for the P5, but is that true for C-USA?

I remember that well. The information I heard was that it came down to UTEP or La. Tech.

Exactly.

For people that actually went to ULL or ULM, or care about them, or live in Lafayette or Monroe, I'm sure there are some important differences between the two programs. For everyone else, they are basically equivalent, almost interchangeable.

This.

Cajuns and the typical LSU crowd are as different as UAB and UAT.

The thing is. It's been 14 freakin' years now since the name change. I've been seeing the exact same arguments from Cajun fans and Tech fans for 14 freakin' years. It's like I'm Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. Nothing changes. After like year 2 I realized I was never going to convince y'all and I moved on with my life. Zackly. If there's some crime in progress, stop it with legal action. Having said that though, does anyone wonder why no one has taken this to court? I suspect it's because any sane, cool headed legal mind would probably counsel that there's a good chance such a case would be lost. Then what?
You know your wrong as a fan base and Tech doesn't have to take you to court. Mods please close this thread as it has simply become a Cajun Pimp thread.

Really? I only see Cajun fans responding to the question that are being asked. It's not trolling when someone ask a question and you politely respond to the question. Then get mad because you don't like the answer.

Also when something is false, and someone shows proof that it is false, and then shows the truth I don't consider that trolling either.

You guys really haven't shown anything to be true or false for that matter. Some of you have contradicted yourselves several times about being in CUSA or Not. This thread actually serves no purpose as it has deviated from "Hey we aren't getting in" to "We can be called whatever we want and we don't need you stupid conference" This thread needs to die.

Seriously, though, I don't understand how this UL dispute has managed to go on so long. If Monroe has a problem with it, they should just break out some "Louisiana" logos & uniforms of their own and force the issue. Alternatively, if Lafayeytte is actually violating the law, that should be easy enough to remedy with the filing of a few court documents or even just the threat to do so. If 8 other universities of equal legal footing don't want to put up with it, why on earth do they?

You don't understand it because your school --USM-- is the clear #3 school in your state, always has been and always will be.

I know. tough words, but fact nonetheless. You inserted yourself into the conversation...so now you know. 04-cheers

Sensitive much? In case you didn't notice, the first part of my post was ragging on the silliness of ULL's position, but whatever.

FWIW, I grew up in Louisiana, so I do have an educated perspective on what exactly is going on here. Truth be told, this kind of stupidity is precisely why I don't live there anymore. Everybody's so busy trying to politically carve out their own little fiefdom, resources get spread thin, and the whole state ultimately suffers. The people of Louisiana would honestly be better off if half the schools in the U of L system were still junior colleges instead of their tax dollars and tuition having to prop up a different 4-year university in every nook and cranny of the state.

But I digress.

I have no ill will towards Tech or ULL, but both sides of this are being completely ridiculous. The school in Lafayette isn't entitled to just call itself whatever it the hell wants and should spend more time trying to elevate its reputation via what it does and not some gimmicky verbal shortcut. That said, if they're doing something wrong, the admins at your school and the other offended 7 need to grow some balls and do something about it instead of just b***hing about it for 20 pages on sports message boards.

Thank you for your opinion, #3. Since there are only 3 legitimate football playing programs in your state, --and you're forever ranked #3-- it really doesn't matter what you think, does it.03-lmfao

That said USM has a very solid history on playing very good FB and their all time records against both Ole Miss and Miss St back that up.
Many times over the last two or three decades, Southern had the best FB team. I don't know about other sports.

I would say that firstly, it wasn't expected to be an issue, until the folks at ULL made it one, as the law is specific to academics and athletics. Secondly, Louisiana politics.
No one acknowledged, so I'll say it again:

Its obvious that neither side is changing anyone's minds in discussing it. Furthermore, it seems to me that the only thing being accomplished is making all of us look like a herd of donkeys.

After instigating this, they (at least the fans) began an all out assault on other University of Louisiana schools and their supporters. One can not have an opinion with their fans without being called an idiot, among many things. I have lost a lot of respect for their fan base and their university. Actually, that distresses and disappoints me.

It has gotten out of hand. CUSA Message board should't get peridocaly bombarded with this crap. Its the same stuff over and over. We aren't gonna back down and they aren't gonna stop.
