No they really won't. Not even ULM cares as much as y'all do. Not even close.

The thing is. It's been 14 freakin' years now since the name change. I've been seeing the exact same arguments from Cajun fans and Tech fans for 14 freakin' years. It's like I'm Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. Nothing changes. After like year 2 I realized I was never going to convince y'all and I moved on with my life. Seriously, when is everyone else going to realize it's completely retarded to make the same argument over and over again like something is going to change. Just move on with your life. Like seriously everyone go mow the grass or watch a movie or something.

That is exactly what I have been wondering? Why don't the ULL folks just accept it and that be the end of it?

Accept what as fact? That you don't like what we call ourselves? Of course I know that. Why don't you just accept as fact that we're going to call ourselves whatever the hell we want to call ourselves and no amount of bitching on message boards is going to change that.

This says it all.

I don't care who has or doesn't have the legal right to any names. I don't know or care who started the "name issue" this time. It just gets really old. This crap was all over the Belt board back when we were there, and I thought we escaped it when we left. The ULL team and university may be great, but constantly reading raging ULL fan posts really makes it hard for me to want to conference with y'all again. I really hope a mod jumps in and moves this derailed thread to the Smack Board.

Nah, this nonsense always starts with Tech fans. Don't pretend it's the other way around. Yes, UL fans are guilty of taking the bait, but we don't start it. We sure as heck don't get pissy every time we see someone use ULL. I'd love for you to go nd a thread where a UL fan derails a conversation because someone used "ULL" and he wants to set him straight. That's not how it happens. It's always Tech fans who get pissy every time someone calls us UL and they go nuts about it. They'll attack us. They'll attack fans of other schools (like they have in this very thread.) They'll attack journalists. And BOOM, the thread gets derailed into something ridiculous.

It's funny because if you go on ULM's board the conversation between UL and ULM fans are almost always civil and respectful despite the name difference. Tech fans on the other hand flip their lids about it even though it has absolutely nothing to do with them.

As far as myself, I always liked the Cajuns until they started the name change fiasco. After instigating this, they (at least the fans) began an all out assault on other University of Louisiana schools and their supporters. One can not have an opinion with their fans without being called an idiot, among many things. I have lost a lot of respect for their fan base and their university. Actually, that distresses and disappoints me.

Somewhere on my computer I've got a pic of a guy playing a really sad song on a tiny violin. I'll see if I can find it.

From the amount of time you spend posting on other Conference and other Team fan boards I assume you spend a lot of time on your computer and probably have all sorts of pics so your claim to have a picture of a guy with a small instrument is not surprising.
Yeah, you're right. ULM doesn't care:

ULL Branding Practice of Dropping Lafayette Violates Law,Creates False Image

ULL Needs to Get in Compliance

Opinion: ULM Must End Deal with ULL

And this is the "levelheaded" response from ULL: http://thevermilion.com/?p=161

But sure, its all Tech fans on message boards driving the debate.
And yeah, I know Katie's response is posted in satire. But is it really?

FWIW, she used to work for me and is a great writer.

I'm guessing you have had a dislike for the Cajuns since at least 1984? This was the first year in which they legally changed their name; however, shady state politics reversed the name change a month later.

Many graduates feel the name was wrongly stripped from the university and I couldn't agree more.

How would you feel if after you married your wife and she dropped her maiden name that a month later the government would step in and insist that she not be allowed to use your last name and to revert back to her maiden name?

This thread needs to die. Worst thread ever. lol
What the ltu folks are very conviently omiting is that there is only one school in the ULS System that has proclaimed 'Flagship' status, and it is ltu.

Says N Louisiana - I am sure some of y'all can read 05-nono
The legislative verbiage that you guys are so very fond of quoting clearly states that there is no 'flagship' school in the ULS system. North, south, east or west.

The fans can call Tech whatever they want. We chose Flagship.
Um, it wasn't 'the fans.' It was your president and SID that did the proclaiming. And I included the proof with my OP.

We'll call you Louisiana if you call is Flagship. Deal?
Sorry, lol, but Louisiana is in compliance, flagship of north la is not.
