I think Ohio State and Georgia likely do as well. Ohio State will have beaten Michigan and Wisconsin, and will benefit from the two losses handed out among Alabama, Auburn and Georgia. If Georgia wins the SEC CCG, Auburn and Alabama will have picked up an additional loss each, clearing room for Georgia into the top four.
I agree that if Ohio State and Georgia win out, they are likely to make the playoffs, but it's not certain. And "controlling your destiny" has no room for iffiness. If it's not 100%, then you don't control your destiny, so that's why i left them out.
If Georgia wins out, show me ANY scenario where they are out. Georgia is 100% in if they win out.

For Georgia: Miami, Wisconsin, Oklahoma win out. Alabama crushes Auburn, loses to Georgia in quadruple-OT in the SEC title game on a bad call. The committee puts Alabama in not Georgia. Very unlikely, but IMO possible.
For Notre Dame: I concede, they still have a sliver of a path.

Couldn't you say the exact same thing for Auburn then? Auburn beats Alabama in quatruple OT on a bad call(at home no less). Then goes on to beat Georgia. The committee puts Alabama in over Auburn.

I don't think so. Even with two losses, if Auburn has two wins over Georgia and a win over Bama and the SEC title, that will trump Alabama.

2 wins over what could then be a mediocre Georgia team viewed at least- and then a controversial home game win vs Alabama. You have to admit there would be a chance that Alabama goes.

RE: Latest CFP Poll
1 thing that's interesting....
Lets say in 2 weeks Alabama loses to Auburn on another flukey Kick 6 type of play.....
It's not going to take much at all to keep Alabama in the playoff....
teams in playoff-
Clemson/Miami winner for sure
Auburn/Georgia winner for sure
Oklahoma if they win for sure
I think it would be between Alabama and Wisconsin/Ohio St. You think Wisconsin gets in at 13-0, but I think that would be the ONLY scenario where I would say Big Ten team goes over Alabama in that situation.

I don't think UGA would be regarded as anything near 'mediocre' with just two losses to AU, but yes, Bama is Bama so ... yes.

Miami bumped to #2.
Crazy scenario would be Miami dropping to Pitt AND Clemson and OU losing another game to WVU or TCU in the Big 12 CCG. Wouldn't overlook next weekend for those schools.

There are still a lot of games left to be played, anything can still happen so anyone who thinks the playoffs are down to a handful of scenarios is nutso. Nobody is guaranteed in, and any team in the top 10 could conceivably make it.

Bingo!!! This is why UCF isn't being allowed anywhere near the top 10. That and I truly believe that they don't want a realistic scenario where say UCF is say ranked 10th or lower and lose to Memphis on say a last second play thereby possible causing the AAC to 2 NY6 bowl spots

He is not a true USF fan. I used to be a FSU fan, when Florida Tech used to be the local college in Orlando. I have not been a FSU fan because UCF came about and I was hooked. I lived in Central Florida for 40 years and know how far UCF has come. True fans represent their team. After this ranking, USF not being in the top 25 is a joke and a true fan says so.

Go5 is NOT guaranteed a spot if UCF makes the playoff. I thought that was clear?

Honestly, the job of the CFP is to rank the "best" teams---not the most deserving. Is there anyone that really believes UCF probably wouldnt beat most of the teams ranked ahead of it? Other than 'Bama, Id say UCF is going to be toss up game against most anyone else in the top10.

I honestly don't know one way or the other. I'd like to see the games anyway.
It's too bad the n number is so low in football. It can be really hard to assess teams in different conferences with so few inter-conference games now. We really have to extrapolate.

That's silly. A true USF fan doesn't have to make false indignation up. Would I like us to be in the CFP rankings? Of course. BUT, is there a good argument against us being in them? Yes there is, our SOS is terrible, and i can accept that.
Second, it's not like we are totally unranked. We are ranked in the AP and Coaches polls, so i can take some solace in that.
Most important, once we whip UCF's arse tomorrow, we will be ranked in the CFP, and that's the ranking that will count, so why worry about now?
