i think you're probably twisting BDK's words. i'm sure he didn't say, "we shouldn't pay Houston what he's worth". IIRC, however, you seem to think we can/should pay him $1M/year. correct me if i'm wrong. but if that's what you're saying, you're out of your friggin' mind. i'd be all for it if that were even remotely possible. it's not and you know it's not. you can't just counter everything with, "but we should." that argument is just silly. it's really not an argument at all, actually. i SHOULD have X-ray vision but i don't.
No, I am NOT twisting BDK's words. In fact, he misinterpreted my words, which I addressed in a reply to him, above.
Speaking of twisting words, or rather, putting words in someone else's mouth, where did I say that BDK said "we shouldn't pay Houston what he's worth?" Please find that quote for me.
OK, so now I am out of my "friggin' mind" for suggesting we find a way to offer Coach Houston "what he is worth." Please read my words, above, again. THAT is what I said.
I did say before that I believe a million dollars a year would keep Houston. There appears to be a general consensus that that is what he is worth. If we can keep him for $500K, awesome! I don't think that will do it, though, at least it won't keep him for long, in my opinion.
I am saying let's find ways to be in a position to make the very best possible offer to keep him. I have mentioned one way to raise half a million dollars. There are many other ways to raise more.
So, you naysayers who think I am out of my "friggin' mind," I say to you that you lack imagination! Ron Carrier would NEVER have said, "Oh, we're doomed, we'll never make it. We just can't do it." He would have and did find the damned money every single time we needed it. It really isn't rocket science. It simply requires a little ingenuity and imagination.
I hope that doesn't sound offensive, but frankly, I am pissed off having my words misinterpreted and other words put in my mouth and being told I am out of my "friggin' mind."
We are all Dukes here. I didn't ask for a fight. I only offered my opinion. I hope we can all remain friends here and toast our awesome Dukes all the way to Frisco and a glorious repeat.
If you want a fight, go to the Weber State board. I don't have much taste for it, especially from people I have known and respected for a long time.
