AND THEN...I searched this "Power 6 Conference" you buffoons claim you're a part of and found this:
And of course I don't even have to google the fact that the MAC was the conference with a member in the NY6 bowls, while the American Conference sat home watching.
Your google skills are impressive, inductchuck.
I suggest that your next step should be an informative but firm letter to the Commissioner of the American, Mr. Aresco. You do realize that is a campaign from the conference, not just us message board heroes, right?
And that campaign is not trying to convince anyone that the American is currently on par with the SEC and the BigTen -
the point of the P6 campaign is to establish that the American is closer to the five contract bowl conferences than to the lesser four conferences.
In addition to on-field performance, there is evidence of that in attendance, spending (including full cost of attendance, and most importantly in TV ratings.
Benefits will come in media contract negotiation/re-negotiation, but it is most important in the strategic outlook of being on the right side of the next huge shift in the college football landscape in 2024/2025.
I'm cautiously optimistic. If you don't think that the broadcast partners and the college football punditry consider the American ahead of the G4s and a tweener and talk generally positively about the American, then you must not have been watching much college football from November on. You do realize that the College Football Playoff Committee spokesmen talked before the conference championship games about having to give serious consideration to a 2-loss Navy team over an undefeated MAC team due to the strength of the American versus the MAC schedule? That's just one example of many.
